Are glass lenses really worth getting over the alternatives?
So I'm planning to buy my first "premium" sunnies (I had some vintage rayban aviators passed down to me, but I don't feel like they suit my face so I'm not counting them), and I'm kind of getting stuck on the lenses.
I found the Maui Jim Kawika which I really like, but it only comes with the MauiPure lenses - which as far as reddit seems to be telling me are plastic and will scratch within 0.5 seconds of wearing them. Is this really the case? Is it worth getting a different frame in order to just get the SuperThin glass?
And beyond that, does the lens colour affect anything outside of visuals? I'm pretty torn on HCL Bronze and Hawaii Lava - I like that they are nicely saturated - especially since I live in the UK and so it can get kinda dreary, but with sensitive eyes like mine I still should be wearing sunnies.
And then there's the Serengeti lenses - I found the Ryan, but I'm so confused about the lenses. They either come with "Mineral Polarized 555nm Cat 3 to 3" or "Mineral Polarized Smoke Cat 2 to 3"...wtf does that mean? What cats?!
For what it's worth, these are going to just be everyday sunnies, I don't have the cash to be having multiples for every conceivable occasion unfortunately.
Sorry for the rambling, just worried about dropping ~£300 on a pair of sunnies and picking something that ends up in the bin after a few months.
Ta in advance!
