I found these and was wondering what kind of Maui Jim glasses they are? I was thinking of maybe selling but idk a fair price . Thank you !
First, I ordered a pair of Maui Jims. They arrived broken in box. I had a terrible experience with customer support so I vowed to never buy from them again. Decided to go with a pair of Smiths. They arrived broken in box, and they refused to refund the shipping; only the price of the sunglasses. My third purchase was from Oakley, and they were seemingly destroyed in the shipping process; never saw the box and nobody notified me this happened, I had to reach out to see what was going on. Every pair was ordered from their respective official website.
How can I successfully get my hands on a pair of sunglasses?
Also, I am still waiting on my refund for the first two pairs.
Cazal 6040 same as 6004 with nose pads or am I missing something?
These are one of my favorite pairs, and I LOVE Eyevan. They’re not overtly flashy, but I think the detail is incredible. Just very well made, and I LOVE the lenses, especially for cR39.
They’re smaller and narrower than my well loved Randolph’s, but the weight and balance makes them feel amazing, even if they aren’t quite as protective.
Eyevan is a brand that I think deserves more love. I loved what they made for OP, and I love what they’re making now.
I bought a pair a few years ago to keep in my car. Worked great but the bottom plastic finally cracked. Was trying to find a pair of mirrored wrap arounds like this. I thought about Pitvipers since they are similar, but the branding on the front, price, change of shipper make me not want to gamble with them. Same with I think the Oakley Sutros and their price.
The one thing I didn't seem to like about these is they make everything look extremely orange. Anyone know of something similar that is decent quality? Use them mostly for driving but do take them with me as everyday glasses.
Do you think it's worth investing in a pair of sunglasses made with Zeiss Lens? From what I read they are a German brand with a history of producing lenses for Cameras.
Also some notable brands like gentle monster use them? But GMs are crazy expensive?
Ive tried blue elephant but something just feels off - I think their quality just sucks
Ive tried Oakley's in the past but the lens just peels off after a year or two?
I wear a pair of Rudy Projects for sports and they've been great (recommended by an optician)
Wouldnt mind investing in a pair of GM's just for the zeiss?
Is it worth it? What can you guys recommend?
Thank you!!!
Got a part time job as a sales associate and have a 50% discount. Problem is the brand I wanted (Maui Jim) is excluded. I'm going to use it mostly for driving. Was thinking Costa or Persol. Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Could you list me some good Japanese made glasses (good quality) tired of persol, rayban etc in the range of 100-300 euros that is available to order from Europe. Something maybe in the same style like Persol 649/714. That is sort of the frame that i want or similar to Oliver Peoples Paul Newman.
Hard to find a good frame for my giant head but I think these are alright
I have a question regarding the authenticity of these old Ray-Ban Wayfarers. They are honestly a beautiful pair of glasses with quite a bit of history behind them (they belonged to an important person in the art world) and eventually ended up in my father’s hands.
The problem arose when I checked the code on the inside of the right temple, which reads “L2008 XRAW.” I haven’t been able to find any reference or information that confirms the authenticity of this code, which makes me wonder whether they might not be genuine.
However, according to my father, the person who gave them to him — this important figure from the art world — said that he had received them after being invited to a Ray-Ban event where this model was being presented, sometime around the early 1980s, although I’m not entirely sure about the exact date.
I’m not very knowledgeable about vintage sunglasses, so I would really appreciate it if anyone with experience and a passion for this subject could help clear up my doubts.
Thank you very much!
I have zero intuition of what type of glasses to look for. Here's a photo of me trying out a wayfarer. My face is quite small, this is a width of 52 I believe.
Would really appreciate some suggestions 🙏🏼.
Thanks!

The most recent example is a pair of aviators I bought last week. They seemed to have a bit of stuff on them today, probably dust. I have some lens cleaner spray. Sprayed it on both sides, wiped off well. It’s even worse now.
When I look at the glasses, I can’t find many scratches, but something is obstructing my view. It doesn’t look like much of anything looking at the glasses though. But the more I clean, the worse it gets.
I’ve had this problem for years. I’ve never been able to keep a pair of sunglasses for more than a couple months. Advice appreciated.
Hi all,
I’m going to Hawaii for 10 days so I figured I should invest in some bigger sunglasses. I’m looking at the Costco Maui Jims since they’re such a great deal. I’ve narrowed it down to the Mano or the Kahana. I’ll probably mostly wear these while lounging or walking around, but I may also do some light hiking in them as well. I’m aware that the SuperThin Glass in the Mano is much more scratch resistant but more prone to shattering, while the MauiBrilliant of the Kahana is much lighter, more shatter resistant, but easier to scratch. Can anyone share their personal experience with the durability of each material? And would it make more sense to just get the Mano and a separate, cheaper pair of sunglasses for activity? Thanks!!
Im actively looking for sunglasses to where while fishing which im constantly on the water at least 150 days a year. I loose glasses like a mf so ive always gone the zenni route. I have to have a prescription bc im blind af and trying to find good frames and good RX lenses under $300 seems to be easy however I just know they don’t compete with the quality of higher end lenses designed for fishing. My question is, is it worth spending $600 on a pair of bajio RX as their lenses would be the lenses that are prescription or does it make any sense at all to go with a company like glasses USA and getting a pair of costas? I feel like going through glasses USA I’d be buying costa frames and not their lenses therefor I’d be back at square one. Idgaf about the brand, I just want high quality lenses.
Whats a good alternative if they cant
I’ve always worn Ray bans club masters/wayfarers.
Now I want something of better quality but same style-ish frames. Recently bought Maui Jim’s Homolua in Hawaii gold lens. Quality is great but ive learned that I hate polarized sunglasses lol
Any suggestions for a lightweight, great quality, classy looking (club master/wayfarer) style that aren’t too dark for driving?
I’ve looked at Serengeti (Delio/Artie) but I believe they only come polarized.
Help!! Lol
