Those familiar with the eyewearenthusiast sub are probably familiar with bigeyejig, but for those who don’t check out those waters, he’s a pretty cool cat and enthusiast who designed his own brand, In Search Of, and these are his first model - the Second Impact.

These are WIDE and comfy. I have a 7 3/8 hat size head and they’re possibly a touch large. Width is actually terrific, with no adjustments.

There’s a lot of things I love about this pair. Purple. Gorgeous translucent acetate. Nice hinges. Unique shape and feel. The lenses are very light in tint, so great for over cast and indoors, but not a great pair for bright sun. You’d want to change lenses for that.

The eye socket coverage is actually really good, and they fit nice and close. The acetate feels and looks great. My poor photography doesn’t do them justice.

Anyway - if you’re looking for a unique, LARGE pair, these might be for you! He has some opticians carrying these in Maryland, Vancouver, or LA.

I won’t be able to wear this one much before winter, but I absolutely love it, and can’t wait to show her off next summer!

I bought these because I got them very inexpensive, and to troll my niece, who hates the color orange. These fit neither my personality nor my face. They’re clearly for a hipster half my age.

Yet I still kind of love them, because they’re so absurd. They belong on a kid in a Smiths shirt with a faux-hawk circa 1990, or now on an “influencer” who thought those kids were edgey.

Tavat Punk something or other. Side rant - nothing actually punk is called punk. This would have been laughed right out of my cool alternateen circles as bad fodder for a dead milkmen song. And that just adds to their ridiculous charm.

I present - the worst sunglasses I own. In all their glory. I love them so much for being so terrible.

These aren’t the worst pair on my face, that still belongs to the Ray-ban Caribbean. But that’s because they just don’t work for my head. These are just the worst pair that I own.

My optician was pushing the GT-R on me as a perfect fit for a while, but I never really loved the colors they had, and I have a fair number of gold colored aviator frames. I liked the shape, but it just wasn’t doing it for me…

A few weeks back I went in to pick up my previously posted Molino 55 (god I love those), and he showed me the new color they had. Atlantic. I shouldn’t have done it, but what was I to do?

This is the GT-R in Atlantic. Someday I’d like to get the reserve.

These are a little different than my normal; generally I’m more an aviator guy, and more into metal frames. I’ve tried on a bunch of acetate JMM, and these fit me better than most others. The Torino and Delean 53 fit, but they didn’t look right on my fave shape.

I’m generally more into aviator styles, and metal; I don’t think most rectangular designs work for me. These are over sized and rectangular! I do love the colors and lenses.

My GF is not wild about them - she’s definitely more a fan of minimalist design. She likes my Lindbergs.

I think they’re pretty sharp though.

I’m a relative newbie here…and really appreciate the guidance so many have given me…

I’m going to visit the gallery in NY on the 12th; are there any particular things I should look for? How is it different than my local dealer? Just more selection? Do they have a ton of things I think are sold out?

I’ve heard there are things exclusive to galleries? Are they even viewable on the site?

If I bring a pair up with me, would they mind adjusting them a bit?

Here’s a pair of Challengers to add some candy. Not my favorite color, but they’re fun.

If you are a fellow big head I don’t think many sunglasses are as versatile as the Vuarnet 003. They’re not light, but they’re so well balanced that they don’t feel terribly heavy, they look good, and they really protect the eye socket well. I’ve worn and loved the 003 since my first pair in the 80s…and paired with Vuarnet lenses, I just think it doesn’t get all that much better.

I think if I could only have one pair of sunglasses for the rest of my life, it would likely be the 003.

These are my current pairs…

A basic gray polar lens
The acetate valleys - blue polar (my faves)
Red mirror pure gray
An older pair of skilynx

Between them I always have a pair I can wear for the day.

Somehow the JMM commanders make me think of the electric 6, which is in no way a bad thing…

I purchased these from a great guy who is also active in several communities. These are silver (which is a good departure since I have so many gold framed aviators) with a green lens that ISN’T a g15 shade!

Let’s get this party started - right…

I posted these a day or two ago and got very negative feedback, when I loved them in store. I suspected the angle of the shot was impacting the appearance…

So I tried them on again and I’m trying again here. Are these as good as I think? They’ll be paired with a violet tint.

These will definitely not be everyone’s cup of tea. They’re Vuarnet. They’re skilynx. Bi-gradient. They have side shields. All of those things tend to be very hit or miss.

These were tied into the 24’ Paris Olympics and were post acquisition. Skilynx is a very - odd - tint that most people are going to find…”unique”. Or awful. Per a friend, it’s like looking through a lens made on Saturn. I love them…the contrast is amazing and they’re terrific if you really want to tame the sun. For driving, or sports (I love the lens for cycling) skylinx is a great choice. If you like Saturn. They won’t be everyone’s pick.

I love these, but I feel like they’re the sunglasses equivalent of steely Dan; you’re going to absolutely hate them, or you’re going to have every album and know all the lyrics. There won’t be much in between for skylinx with side mirrors.

This is actually the first pair of JMM I’ve purchased new, and they might be the last pair of sunglasses I buy; I think these may be my idea of sunnies perfection.

I hope you guys like these as much as I do…I think these are now my top dog pair. I definitely feel like I could be a TV private detective in these.

A: Yes

These are my Masunaga 9004. They’re very simple and classic, especially for Masunaga, but you can see the craft in details. They’re another of my most loved frames, and I like the styling on my keppie.

These make me want to jump into a convertible and solve crimes.

I think fake, but I’m not certain.

These are one of my favorite pairs, and I LOVE Eyevan. They’re not overtly flashy, but I think the detail is incredible. Just very well made, and I LOVE the lenses, especially for cR39.

They’re smaller and narrower than my well loved Randolph’s, but the weight and balance makes them feel amazing, even if they aren’t quite as protective.

Eyevan is a brand that I think deserves more love. I loved what they made for OP, and I love what they’re making now.

I have a lot of sunglasses. They don’t need to be the best ever pair, or the everyday pair, but they need to look reasonably good.

These were pricey, and I’m not sure I love the angle on me. I don’t think I’d have a whole lot of trouble selling them, or trading them, but I also think they’re incredibly beautiful and I WANT THEM TO WORK…

So…

Good? Average? Bad?

I had one more insurance discounted lens and thought it would be a waste not to use it. The frames, Lindberg Spirit collection - were purchased used on eBay - since this was an on the cheap project.

Lindberg is easily my first choice for an optical that I plan on having on face a long time; the quality is fantastic, the look and feel is classic, and you can really make them fun/pop with the right lens choice. A bit traditional? Perhaps. But they match my vibe.

I really love how they turned out with the rose Shamir Lens tint.

Vuarnet 03s have always been in my comfort and Len’s quality sweet spot…I’m rather enjoying this pair.
