Dizziness after and increased sternum pain after backpod

Hi,

I’ve been using the backpod now for 10 days. I have been starting very slowly with 3 pillows for around 6-8 minutes and gradually reducing to two. After every single session regardless of pillows I get this wooziness that goes on for an hour or two and also extreme tenderness in the front that only resolves with ibuprofen, completely goes away. (My issues have always mainly been in the back, maybe CV joints as that was always the focus) Slipped rib I’m not too sure about as I don’t have the typical symptoms.

I have had chronic thoracic problems for many years where they first thought it was facet joint problems. Had an ablation didn’t help of the facet joints at t7 t8. Had an intercostal pulsed radiofrequency of nerves 7 and 8 that helped a bit. MRI, blood tests all clear.

The problem with my symptoms is that they physically limit me from walking normally like my torso is a complete rigid block and that I need to press my chest down as there is a big hard stop both front and back. Also stiff as a rigid block and what has mainly been bothering me is a fixed spot between shoulder blades that feels like I have been shot with an arrow and it forces me into a cramped position (involuntary).

What is it that I have and will this go away with the backpod? I’m seeing slow progress but not sure.

Could this be a costovertebral joint irritating an intercostal nerve? Purchased Backpod

Hey guys,

I've been dealing with chronic thoracic pain for several years. My biggest problems have always been severe torso locking, very stiff/robotic movements, and major breathing difficulties. It often felt like my ribs or upper back were physically stuck, and taking a deep breath was extremely difficult.

About 2 months ago I had pulsed radiofrequency ablation (PRF) targeting the thoracic nerves. It helped somewhat, but I was still struggling.

A few days ago I started using a Backpod, and surprisingly it has made a huge difference to my breathing and mobility. My chest expands much better, I don't feel nearly as locked, and moving my torso feels much more natural.

However, one symptom has actually become more noticeable.

I have a very focal, deep, electric/itching/crawling pain just medial to my right scapula (around the T4–T5 region). It feels like it's coming from deep where the rib meets the spine or where the nerve starts inside the scapula. The pain is there almost 24/7 and was there before the PRF too. Sometimes it wraps around the right side of my torso toward the upper abdomen/flank and down my back in the outer layer of the back and also under armpit, and occasionally makes my right arm feel heavy, although the pain itself doesn't really radiate into the arm.

That spot is also extremely tender to palpation, and when I take a deep breath I feel a very specific restriction from that exact point in my back, together with pressure/pain in the middle of my sternum.

The strange thing is that the Backpod has clearly improved my breathing and the mechanical stiffness, but this pinpoint nerve pain seems more intense than before. Sometimes it flares after using the Backpod and then settles again.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Did it turn out to be persistent intercostal nerve irritation, a costovertebral/costotransverse joint irritating the nerve, thoracic facet pain, or something else? And what eventually helped the nerve pain settle?
