I Was at the Costco Foodcourt for 20 Minutes…

I came back to see someone hit my i3s while I was eating a gourmet meal at Costco. Luckily the part kinda popped back into place and it seems it’s mostly cosmetic, but there is paint loss. Whoever did this dipped it before I came back. Must’ve been a car who either backed into it or while coming out :/

What do y’all think? Should I just live with it?

Person Sleeping in their ICE Car with the Charger in the Window

I asked whoever is was in there if we can use the charger as we need to charge and he said no and told us to go away. Then there was a guy parked in their car for 5+ minutes not charging. We asked him if he was gonna charge and rudely told us yes and looked at us like we were somehow the rude ones.

My Experience Buying the “3-Year Ultimate Care Oil Plan” at the Dealership

Hey y’all, I know the general consensus on here is usually to just DIY the REX oil change, but honestly, I’m lazy. For anyone else looking for a low-effort alternative to getting your hands dirty, I wanted to report back on my experience doing the official dealer route today.

I took my 2019 i3s REX down to BMW of Chula Vista, (I coincidentally passed another i3 owner leaving the lot as I was pulling in) and the process was shockingly seamless. I walked in with no appointment and requested the $249 “3-Year BMW Ultimate Care Oil Services” plan. The math breaks down to about $83 per oil change, which is honestly a great price for full synthetic OEM oil and filters. I’ve read older threads here saying some dealers refuse to apply this plan to the i3, but there was absolutely none of that here. They locked it to my VIN and initiated it on the spot. We even used Klarna to split up the cost, which made it an even easier pill to swallow.

The actual oil change was wrapped up in less than an hour and a half. They text you a comprehensive digital breakdown that includes a full multi-point inspection list, photos of your car's components, and a personalized walk-around video from the tech showing the underside of the chassis.

As expected, they use the inspection to try and scare you into a massive repair bill. They handed me an $1,100+ "critical recommendations" list, including a $208 "Vehicle Check" diagnostics fee and $720 to replace my rear tires. We flat-out denied all $2K of the suggested upsells and walked out paying exactly the $249 plan price, plus a tiny $6 standard local hazardous waste fee. The tech report gave the car a mostly clean bill of health, though my rear tires are officially nearing the legal limit.

If your REX oil change is due, you don’t want to code or reset the dash yourself, and you want to keep your hands clean, the 3-year plan is a genuinely good value. Don't let the old threads scare you out of trying, just be ready to say a firm "No thanks" to the service advisor's laundry list of upsells when they hand you the inspection report!
