My 14-Day French Food Tour of Montreal

My 14-Day French Food Tour of Montreal

I spent 14 full days in Montreal, starting on May 2nd. I had no budget and was looking to experience mainly French bistro, brasserie, and fine dining restaurants. Through my own research and feedback on this sub, I curated a trip of a lifetime—with mostly hits and only a couple of misses.

Not only were the restaurants excellent but the service was amazing and the passion and friendliness from Montrealers both in person and online was an unexpected treat.

The trip wasn’t perfect (transportation and construction nearly killed me), but from the food perspective, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

50 stops. One incredible trip.

Super bummed that my afternoon tea at the Palm Court was cancelled because the restaurant at the Ritz is closed for the day. Anything recommended close by so I can still hit the art gallery in the afternoon? Something fun and bougie, doesn’t have to be a “locals” spot. Already going to Bar George for breakfast and Renoir for brunch another day. Also not interested in Marcus, the menu isn’t for me. Prefer fine dining French or continental or an afternoon tea. Not Roselys as I’m going there later in my trip. Thanks! Merci!

Is it appropriate to tip the flight crew in cash or just add gratuity when you purchase something? If I don’t buy anything and just want to formally say thanks, would a card be weird? What if I put some Starbucks gift cards in it? It’s a very special trip and I want a way to say thank you for getting me there safely and comfortably. Further to that, would it be weird to give something to the pilots?
