I became an army in december 2023 so but naturally i have not seen any group songs performed in real time until Arirang tour.
So BTS doing surprise segments and singing and dancing to some of their old discography has brought me so much joy and happiness.

BTS has always stood by the message Music is universal, no matter what language it’s being sung in.
Recently during promotions for Arirang, Jin said ‘We were fans of artists who speak different languages from us but we didn’t think differently of them because of that, I was a fan of them and still am and I don’t think language is a barrier. I’ve always cared more about the emotions in their music’
Even BTS’ statement two days ago was simple: “I hope that music can be heard and loved for its own sake, rather than being distinguished by region or language”
The thing is grammy did not realise that BTS truly are a global stars in the truest sense. The fandom is as global as it can get, the huge news coverage i am seeing, i have hardly seen for any artist that has called Grammys out.
A simple statement has sent Recording Academy into spiral and yet they refuse to understand the core of the issue.
Asian pop category doesn’t come from need to recognise asian music but to box the whole entire continent away from the main categories.
It’s simple really, Asian is not a genre, it never will be, and to make an award based not on music but language is inherently racist in nature, no matter how you twist it, no matter how much gaslighting gramnys does, it’s segregation in broad daylight.
Anywho BTS still did not make any demands, they said their piece and moved on but to see grammys and their affiliates backtracking and gaslighting in broad daylight, yeah they are admitting indirectly that the category maybe for this year was made for them and they did not expect BTS to pull out, since it was their dream to win a grammy.
Following BTS’ announcement to not submit Arirang for Grammys we saw a surge in streams and re-entered Aliens at 1.4 million when we were doing 850k a day before.

I dont know if people participating in this sub even realise how degrading is Asian pop performance category is and how recording academy is basically saying that they’ll decide if Asians are using their language in a meaningful way in their songs.
This category is very inherently racist in nature (full english songs are not allowed because apparently Asian natives do not speak english)
You all can hate and diss BTS for taking a stand but this category not only boxes a big continent with various genres and languages in noe box but also gives recording academy the right to judge whether asian artists are asian enough or not.
Grammys can also re categorise song submission, so this argument ‘they can only submit in main categories’ fall flat.
Do not be this blind in hatred that you start justifying blatant xenophobia, racism, discrimination and segregation.
I think many people have not looked at the requirement for Asian pop performance award.
Grammys clearly stated that the song submitted is only eligible if it has ‘significant and meaningful use of Asian language’ (english is not considered an Asian language so any song fully in english is not even eligible for the award)
This category is inherently racist in nature. Who is recording academy to decide how Asiand use their native languages in their own songs and in a meaningful way ?! How are white American people who do not even understand the various languages spoken in all of Asia (there are like 1000+ languages in asia) are allowed to judge the ‘Asianness’ of Asian artist.
This category is Segregation in your face, not to mention they are effectively saying you are too Asian to be nominated in main categories but aren’t ‘Asian enough’ for the Asian one.
Countries like Singapore’s official language is English, that means effectively the country cannot even participate in this category.
Who are recording academy to say if an Asian act is singing in english, it strips them of their Asian identity?! What do they even mean by ‘meaningful use of Asian language’ ??
Anyone dismissing the blatant racism of this category is genuinely blind and I am proud of BTS to take a stand
