This table has a pipe burn on it and I can’t get it out with sanding. I was planning on doing a Swiss coffee wash and then a water based polyurethane top coat. I was thinking of trying to disguise the burns by painting very small diluted white flecks over it before the paint wash but I don’t want white streaks, any advice?
I got this little solid wood cabinet at a moving sale for ✨free✨and I started stripping the finish and the wood color is gorgeous so I want to preserve it. I am torn between cutting off that top shelf to modernize it a bit or leaving it to preserve its character. I just don’t like the spindle supports. If I remove the top, it will be 23 inches tall which is an awkward height. If I leave it, it’s 29 inches tall. What do you guys think? Any input would be appreciated!
I know an orbital sander is a must, I recently got a lot of wood furniture at an estate sale and it’s been sitting in my garage while I decide what to get. I have been thinking I really want a paint sprayer so I can get the factory quality finish. Ideally I’d buy 1 and use it for paint and finish. I would prefer to preserve the wood so I plan on using stain or a paint wash vs just painting it all but I also have some not great pressboard dressers I want to paint. For reference I do not have many tools at all, I have a drill. I know I’ll need a sander, clamps, different things like acetone and wood conditioner and all that. I just do not want brush strokes in my finish since I plan to do this for an income and I think amateur when I see brush strokes. Any advice is appreciated! These are my future projects if anyone wanted to give advice on what to do with them id love that! I have some ideas but ill take inspiration
