Almost universally considered the weakest album of the era. This one has a great front cover, and includes some catchy songs and strong guest vocalists… but lets itself down with seven uninspired days-of-the-week tracks! Many songs originally appeared on Wiggly Waffle in some form.

Today’s album: Sing a Song of Wiggles

The second full set of nursery rhymes in as many years. Generally a less-memorable compilation for many listeners, but it’s good to see the group having so much fun with the dress-ups! This one feels like a very open field with no clear favourite. Remember to comment your favourite if I haven't shortlisted it!

An album chock-full of catchy animal songs; it ‘feels’ like a stronger album than the sum of its parts. And surprisingly few of these songs were performed ever again! Also featuring three guest stars, easily the most memorable of which was Kylie Minogue in her custom-cut pink skivvy!

The laidback beach vibe with Hawaiian music and an array of different stringed instruments was a welcome change of pace in 2011. It’s also notable for Sam taking a real backseat vocally!

Possibly the era’s most polarising album, and far the most difficult to seed in this game. It contains some of Sam’s most memorable and catchy original songs, but also introduced the infamous circus skills that dominated their live shows for several years.

Sam’s first album which introduced him to young Wigglers all over the world. It was almost a concept album, split into two segments based on different areas of education and development. This is possibly the farthest they ever veered on the entertainment vs education scale.

So the AFL brought in the wildcard rounds to create some jeopardy and try to ensure late season games still had something to play for.

Well.

With two rounds to go, our top 10 is basically locked in. Carlton are two games clear of 11th. Ironically, there would've been more jeopardy if we still had the top 8 system, as Geelong/Collingwood/Bulldogs/Carlton would've been vying for two spots.

I guess it just goes to show you shouldn't change something that has worked for 20+ years just because of one or two seasons! 🤣

And we're back! You may recall in recent times I led some elimination brackets to determine our favourite Wiggle, Character, and OG song . I hope many of you enjoyed playing along!

During the OG song game, several people expressed an interest in doing the same for the Sam era. Many Sam fans are reaching an age where that Wiggly nostalgia is kicking in. While I'm an OG-fan at heart, this one is for you guys!

How the bracket will work:

You can see the bracket with Sam's nine studio albums in play (plus two wild-cards). We begin with polls to nominate the best song for each slot. There is a maximum of six options, so I have shortlisted these (to avoid too much personal bias, I enlisted the help of u/carl95679 and u/Big-Masterpiece1194 - thanks to both of you).

But if we've missed your favourites, please vote them via the comments each day! A single comment with more upvotes than the poll-winner will become the nomination. ^(Upvotes will only be counted at a single-comment level, ie: two comments with 10 upvotes won't beat a poll option with 15 votes. Don't leave a comment with two additional options as this will split votes. A tie between a poll option and a comment will be won by the poll.)

Once we have our 11 nominations, we’ll have a series of head-to-head elimination polls until we reach a grand final and a sole winner.

Set-up and Seedings:

Due to the uneven number of slots I have seeded the albums based on popularity; this gives some albums a small advantage. The full list of seedings is as follows:

No song will be eligible more than once, and they will be eligible only on their original appearance.

All tracklists will be based on the Australian versions.

Big Birthday doesn't get a slot to itself, but some songs will appear in the wild-cards. Best of albums won't be considered at all as they have no unique Sam songs.

No songs originally released before 2007 will be eligible; even if they're associated strongly with Sam. The sole exception to this rule is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, which Greg sang partially on Splish Splash Big Red Boat but never on an album.

No medleys will be eligible.

I'm in a few fandom subs, they're mostly what I like about Reddit. A lot of people do series of 'Discussion Posts' about certain books/films/episodes/albums/whatevers. But there are a few repeat offenders who start a post like this, say their opinion in the post... and then just never respond to anybody else who is trying to engage in the discussion.

Like if you just wanted to say your bit and not talk about other peoples' takes, just call it an 'Opinion Post' like it is. Don't call it a discussion if you're not gonna discuss! Grrrr.

Anyway, back to real-world problems I suppose...

I recently turned 30 years old and it's my new-decade resolution to do as many push-ups per day as years I have been alive! Mr Motivator's card saying he did 69 per day (I think!?) literally motivated me! I can't quite do them at his speed yet though...

Someone check in on me next week to see if this resolution lasts that long haha
