Learn how to play Daredevil and his sense deck with me as I unbox Fear No Evil and run his Justice precon against expert Klaw!!! My initial impressions are that Daredevil is super fun but way more difficult to pilot and sequence than i expected. There are so many different options of which cards to play each turn because he can always fall back on his sense deck.

This was the most difficult aspect to list for because protection has so many different archetypes that synergize with different hero kits so I ended up eliminating a lot of duplicate perfect defense heroes for who i thought were the most fun/synergistic in that archetype.

Now that we’ve gotten some new Avenger heroes like Hercules and Tigra in the Civil War wave, it’s time to discuss where they all rank and who is the most powerful Avenger in the game. Thor isn’t a top 10 strongest hero or anything like that, but he’s far from the bottom in my experience. He really shines with the new card pool with minion summoning cards in every aspect, but even with a smaller collection like only core set cards he can hold his own. I demonstrate how to pilot Thor with a Justice deck and explain why I like to not play Mjolnir on turn 1 so every time Thor flips down to alter-ego he can tutor Mjolnir flying back to hand to help with his early game economy.

In this video, I summarize and share my thoughts on the new cards revealed in Fantasy Flight Games' recent Marvel Champions livestream. Olivia, Tony, and Aaron talked about a bunch of Marvel Champions news including promo cards for Fear No Evil, their favorite aspects, Daredevil as an identiy-specific ally for more than 1 Defender hero (cough Elektra), Luke Cage’s final missing upgrade, and card reveals for the starting aspect cards that will be in the hero packs for this wave.

My favorite archetypes with aggression are minion slayers and weapon exhaust so most heroes on this list have synergy with one or the other, but there are some like Ghost-Spider who just have unique synergies with aggression’s interrupts/responses. I evaluate every hero for how much synergy they have with the shiny new leadership support: Righteous Purpose. I had a lot of disagreements with chat for the lower tiers but everyone mostly agreed on the best heroes with this card—Maria Hill is one of the best Voltron heroes in the game with Pericles and Field Agent while playing in leadership with Righteous Purpose. Falcon and Magik also basically have a permanent 3 THW/3 ATK Cosmo with Righteous Purpose, and I speculated that Daredevil would be an amazing hero with Elektra staying in play forever too. Which hero/decks are you excited to pair with Righteous Purpose and were there any synergies that chat and I missed in the stream?

Huge shoutouts to the Brandt for sending me the custom Zombie modular set that they will be featuring at the Assemble Con Event July 17-19! I decided to playtest this encounter set with Zola since he buffs minions and I went with Black Panther for a fun Wakandan vs Zombie theme. It’s honestly an incredibly well made modular set feeling difficult and very thematic in capturing the feeling of how zombies relentlessly attack which you can see in this playthrough. Normally, legacy environment products like NeXt Evolution don’t get reprinted/restocked, but Asmodee has this expansion in stock again on their website. SnowyOwl recently purchased a copy of this NE reprint and was kind enough to confirm in a comment that his copy has the new environmentally friendly circle tape (instead of the old shrink wrap) which confirms that NE was reprinted and this isn’t just leftover stock. I’m not sure what this means for the other out of print products (looking at Sinister Motives 👀) but it’s great to see an expansion that should be faded into the legacy environment get reprinted and become accessible for new players. In this episode, I talk to TheBrandt from Step Into the Portal about his experience working at a local game store. I ask him how sales for Marvel Champions is doing and when sales were at their best. Although this is all anecdotal, it was encouraging to hear how the game is doing better than ever at his store despite the past year’s releases of less popular heroes.
