The photos were taken in the Chania hospital in Crete the victims are from the Sarakina massacre during January 1897. A group of 159-200 Cretan Turks Muslims from Sarakina village were evacuated by Christians but were killed on the route. Around 44 survived of who 25 wounded 4 women were taken and converted to Christianity.
British consul said that in total 104 people were killed
