Hey everyone, i went on a hike today (Central Eastern NY area) and I think i may have found a wild mutant plant! It was conveniently sitting right next to a normal looking one of the same species. I checked and they’re two separate plants.

Could this actually be a mutation or does it look like a sickness/deficiency? Picture is attached (the lighter one is the suspect).

Also sorry if this isn’t the right place to ask this, i’m unsure where else i could post to. Any suggestions are welcome :-)

Hey everyone, i have a jar that’s been going for a few months now. I used lake water and dirt and added two sticks that pop out just an inch or two out of the top of the water.

As the water level goes down, the tops of the sticks that were previously submerged have been developing this white crust on it (pic attached). It seems to only come on the sticks after they’ve been submerged for a bit and then dry. Anyone know what it is or what could be causing it? Just want to make sure it’s nothing i need to be concerned about. Could it maybe be mold? It only started happening quite recently.

The jar has mostly micro organisms, some daphnia, and a few snails.
