My son just started grade 6 and while he has never had a big friends circle, he would always like playing tags etc in elementary. One odd time, he mentioned his friends were being mean. But now in middle school, I see him pulling back from everything. I know school just started, but he does not want to try out for anything, there is a school dance that is not really a dance, just a go eat come kind of a thing this week, that he does not want to go to either. I am not sure how many of his elementary school classmates he has here, but he feels like he will be made fun of? Not sure if I should push him to tryout, go to the dance or just let him be.
