Does anyone else worry the abridged series will lose a lot of heart that the original series had?
I remember watching the live action, and felt they left out some amazing small stories, that really make OP the great story that it is, for the sake of pace. A great example was chouchou, the dog that protected his deceased owners store; and is one of my favorite sub plots of the east blue arc. There are a lot of small moments like that which make the side characters seem so authentic and make you feel like they had things going on before the straw hats ever landed on their shore. These moments also work to demonstrate how kind the main cast are, like when luffy ran into the fire to bring out a single box of dog food. Not because it was important to the plot, but because it meant the world to that dog who wasn't even that important to the plot. hell, luffy actually had more of a reason to not help the dog since he was a dick about giving the key back.
For instance, I can definitely see both the abridged and live action series cutting out yokozuna in water 7 (the frog that kept trying to stop the puffing tom) to keep the pace fast.
Do you think new viewers will lose out on the full experience of OP because they watch these condensed versions, or do you think moments like these aren't important to the story telling that Oda is known for?
