Which brands of accessories are decent quality these days?

About 6 years ago I replaced the shower pull switch in my bathroom with a British General 50A one, and unfortunately it seems to have failed recently, and the Neon died ages ago.

Given that it was a cheap sub £10 one I'm templed to spend a bit more on a decent brand this time. I'm seeing MK units available for £20 or so, but is MK worth the extra these days? Are there any other decent switch/accessories brands about?

I hope this is OK to post here, as I'm a bit confused by all of this

In short, I have to arrange to get myself (adult, no railcards) and my parents (both with senior railcards) from Machynlleth to London (Euston) in mid August, leaving Friday and heading back Sunday. Times are flexible so we can arrange to avoid any peak times etc if needed.

What I'm a bit confused by is how best to sort the ticketing for the trip. From what I understand we can't buy the tickets more than 12 weeks in advance, however is there generally a better time to buy tickets for TfW/Avanti West coast once they become available, or are we best off just getting them as early as possible?

Also, we're going to need to use the Tube while we're in London. From what I understand if you want to use your senior railcard discount it needs to be connected/loaded on to a physical oyster card via an online account, and isn't something we can apply to contactless debit cards before going?
