Dark romance suggestions
Looking for recommendations of a good dark romance series.
This year I got into reading dark romances. (I was a big fan of Twilight when I was younger) I have really enjoyed the Four Horsemen series and the Souls trilogy. My issue though is that I felt like the smut level was a bit much, especially with the latter. I don't mind a little spice, but sometimes it feels like a bit much or even sometimes unnecessary.
Things I enjoy:
Moderate spice
Morally grey characters
Both characters' perspectives or at least not just the perspective of a human in a world of exciting creatures.
Really been into mythological/ biblical lore. I like the demon thing or the different look on morality and what actually is good/evil. (Love Hazbin Hotel and Good Omens)
Enemies to lovers that actually takes time to cook. Need some yearning and some tension.
I like romcance obviously, but I need the plot to be compelling too. Like is the world going to end or some other high stakes things. Is the lore in the world compelling? Are there puzzle pieces to connect that feel genuine and not forced?
I also really like some references that I, as a book/ history nerd, would get. Something maybe that pulls from actual myths.
I would also like a series that follows the same characters throughout.
Maybe not so modern sounding, which might sound pretentious or dumb, but I was an English major and I feel like sometimes reading books that sound super modern take me out of it a little.
A book doesn't need to meet all criteria of course! I'm really just looking for titles that might reflect some of my more specific interests. Any suggestions would be super appreciated! Thank you!
