AI generated admission requests

Are you guys seeing more of this? I received a lengthy admission request text page tonight that was obviously written using AI. It was painful and long to read.

Instead of “cellulitis, failed outpatient antibiotics” or “please call me to discuss requested admission for cellulitis” we get things like “The continued clinical progression represents failure of outpatient management and requires escalation to parenteral antibiotics with close monitoring for response and further extension of infection despite completion of sequential antibiotic therapy” and “Although they are currently afebrile, hemodynamically stable, and without sepsis or crepitus, these reassuring findings do not mitigate the documented progression despite oral therapy.”

Even worse, when I called the ED doc, he couldn’t even tell me the correct antibiotics he had been on, and after consulting on the guy and doing a thorough history, he did not in fact meet admission criteria and I discharged him home. Sigh.

Help me figure out what I’m doing wrong

I can’t get my pH up above 6.0. I have a 350 gallon hot tub I bought in 2023 and use 3 days a week on average. I drain and refill every 4 months. My typical routine is to add chlorine granules with every use or every couple days to sanitize. The alkalinity is usually always balanced. The pH is always low. I will add 4–6 teaspoons of sodium carbonate (soda ash) after adding in my chlorine and test 20-30 minutes later. Despite this, the pH is always undetectably low. I have three different test strips and the color is always below the detectable level. I know this isn’t good for the tub long term. I have grown apathetic because I can never seem to make it right.

"Black Screen of death"

My series 10 watch (GPS+cellular) purchased 1.5 years ago has apparently suffered the "black screen of death." Watch still works, connects to phone, haptics are fine, everything. Screen just won't show anything. Apple genius bar couldn't help diagnose or fix the problem accurately today, and simply told me just to buy a new one. They won't even bother repairing it and said I should spend $350 to replace it.

Anyone have success with somehow getting their watch repaired with this type of problem? Would you shell out the money to replace it, spend $529 to upgrade to a new series 11, or wait till September and buy a series 12?
