Rule #7 - Self-Promotion is Allowed Conditionally

The recent thread had a lot of mixed responses, with no clear winner. Based on your responses, here's Rule #7.

Rule #7 - Self-promotion is allowed conditionally

Creators can post about their own games once per title, provided that game has at least 10 reviews on Steam, GOG, XBLA, PSN, etc., and was released at least 2 years ago.

Here's my reasoning

The main problem was never self-promotion, it was the idea -- nay, looming threat -- of unscrupulous developers creating "slop" games no one actually wants, and then coming here to drive sales via artificial FOMO.

Hopefully this rule will address that problem. If anyone ties to whip up 20 titles an announce them one by one, we'll add a limit on titles per publisher, something like that. For now, I'm trying to keep it simple.

tl;dr Self-promotion is allowed (indie creators rejoice!) within reason (awww).

P.S. I can't believe I have to say this, but r/delisted follows standard rules of reddiquette. If you do not engage with a community other than to repeatedly self-promote, that's bad! Don't do that!

Should self-promotion be banned here?

Hey folks! After a user repeatedly spammed their own game, there were some calls to ban self-promotion.

I just wanted to get everyone's opinion first.

Which of these do you like the best?

  1. Zero tolerance on self-promotion (none allowed)

  2. "10% Rule" (Nine out of ten posts/comments have to be helpful and non-self-promotional, i.e.part of the community)

  3. Self-promotion is allowed (but no spamming/repeated links)

Let me know which you like the best, or if you have any other thoughts about how to keep it tidy.

Speculation & Unconfirmed Delistings Megthread: August 2026

Unconfirmed delistings belong in this thread, per Rule #6.

Examples of posts that belong here:

  • "Do you think they might remove the original once the remaster hits?"
  • "Company X just got bought by Shady Overlords Who Hate Videogames! Buy 'em while you can."
  • "Hey my cat just told me they're going to remove all Halo games from Xbox Live. I believe him."

If that sounds like something YOU might post, don't, and leave it as a comment here!

Protip: If you click on the hamburger menu ("...") by the post title and select Follow Post, Reddit should notify you every time someone posts a top-level comment.

Open Discussion - August 2026

Questions, rants, and nostalgia all go here!

This post will stay stickied until (at least) the end of the month.

Use this thread to:

  • Ask questions about buying delisted games (legally, of course).
  • Talk about "the one that got away" and other nostalgia.
  • Post screenshots of your delisted collection.
  • Anything else related to delisted videogames that is not advanced warning of an impending delisting or a post about a relisted game.

Per the new Rule 5, any "open discussion" type posts made outside this thread will be deleted.

And as always, all the standard rules apply, so be good to each other.

End of Physical Media Mega-thread

Hey folks, I've seen a few of these kind of threads pop up, so I figured a custom mega-thread was in order.

Feel free to discuss PlayStation ending their physical discs, other console makers potentially going all digital, how you feel that does or does not affect you, etc.

If anyone cares, I decided to include my reasoning to make this its own thread, as opposed to the standard Open Discussion thread. This part is safe to skip.

On one hand, I agree that Sony (and likely Microsoft, considering their previous plans) shutting down physical discs very much does affect r/delisted. Until now, if a console game got delisted, you could still get the game on physical. Cases like the recent Condemned: Criminal Origins being pulled from the Xbox Store. That's bad, but at least you could buy a disc off eBay and still play it on your Xbox Series X. Pretty soon, things like that probably won't be an option, and that's bad for everyone.

That said, there's not a lot of actionable advice that can come out of these sorts of posts. It's different than an impending digital storefront shutdown, with their lists of online-exclusive games and advice and such. If Sony decides to stop selling discs, we can't really do anything about it. You won't be able to find the one store still making new Sony game discs, etc.

So, that's why I believe a general post about the PS3 digital store shutting down (and how to get as many games as possible) should stay up, while folks should try to keep keep End of Physical Media stuff in this thread.

Have fun talking,

And as always, be nice!
