How does HBO Max legally not give access to a documentary except through subscribing?
Recently I found out there was a documentary about English Indycar driver Dan Wheldon called The Lionheart. I learned it was on HBO Max. I then searched "free documentaries" to no avail. Then, I searched for the title on DVD or Blu-ray disc. Still nothing. The only way to watch it is by subscribing to HBO's streaming service. It was always my understanding that documentaries are "free use" under US law due to being educational. How do I gain access to, and watch this documentary without subscribing to HBO Max? It seems to me that a documentary being only accessible through a single source and not available through any other media form goes against the spirit of Fair Use laws in the US. Help me understand.
