[Dev] FreeCell Unlocked - an ad-free modern take on the classic Solitaire game.

Longtime FreeCell player, and the one thing that I sometimes wanted was to share a game. In most apps you can't hand someone "this exact game" the way you'd pass a chess position. So I built that in: every game produces a short replay key that captures the deal and the moves. Paste a friend's key and you get their exact board to race, or watch their moves play back as in "Play Along" mode.

There are also a few rule modes (Hard Mode with 0 resting cells, Hidden Rows, a 5-cell easy lane), a daily challenge with a leaderboard, and large-print cards. Free, no ads. Happy to answer anything / take feedback.

[Dev] FreeCell Unlocked — a modern, ad-free FreeCell where any deal is a shareable code

Hey solitaire lovers! I'm a solo dev building a FreeCell game (mobile, maybe web) and before I lock down the feature list I'd love to hear from people who actually play the genre seriously.

I've played MobilityWare's FreeCell on my iPad for years. Recently I got rebilled the yearly fee and thought to myself "Why am I paying a subscription for FreeCell?". So I built my own. Features I have that I think make my app stand apart are:

  • Free and ad-free. No dark patterns, no rent seeking. I may add cosmetic purchases to support development costs but the base game is free.
  • Shareable games. I've never seen this feature in a game. Share your game from any point of play. Maybe you are stuck and want a friend to help out? Or maybe you did really well and want to see if your friend can beat you. There is a "ghost play" feature that shows their moves as you play through the same deal.

What I want to know:

  1. What's the #1 thing the FreeCell app you currently use gets wrong?
  2. Is there a feature you've wanted for years that nobody ships? (Hints quality? Stats? Tablet layout? Something weirder?)
  3. Does "shareable deals" sound interesting or like a gimmick?
  4. Would you purchase cosmetics to support the game? If I added leaderboards or any sort of online component there would be ongoing server costs. Would you be willing to make a small one time purchase to support this?
