Replacing Rooftop AC Unit

Looking for some information on selecting and replacing a RV rooftop AC unit. I have a 30A travel trailer and the current rooftop unit doesn't perform well. The air blows cool, no cold and it can not keep up with the heat oin our area. I've been researching units and the Furrion Chill Cube keeps popping up. 18k BTU and an AMP draw of 15.5A. Here's my questions:

  • Are all AC units generally interchangeable, as in if it's on a 20A circuit, I can replace the current unit with most any unit under 20A draw?
  • What electrical considerations should I have when selecting a replacement unit?
  • Is the cut out in the roof a standard size or should I expect to have to expand said opening?
  • My understanding is the Chill Cube doesn't connect to an existing thermostat. So when I disconnect the current thermostat from the existing AC unit, will the furnace continue to function without issue?
  • The current unit is ducted. Do I need to get a distribution box for in addition to ordering the ducted Chill cube?

What other considerations do I need to think about when changing out my existing unit for the Chill Cube?
