If Amazon paid 100% of our property taxes, like they plan to do in Covington for at least 16 years, in exchange for a data center campus buildout…Would you be in favor of this?

Mayor Fleeta Baggett announced a plan Monday to use revenues generated by an Amazon Data Services data center campus in the city to eliminate property taxes for city homeowners.
Baggett said the economic investment from Amazon provides an opportunity for the city to shift the tax burden off residents and onto large-scale commercial development.
“This is exactly the kind of economic growth we’ve been working toward — growth that directly benefits the people who call Covington home,” said Baggett. “Because of the revenue generated by the Amazon data center, we now have a real opportunity to eliminate city property taxes for individual homeowners.”

Property taxes for Amazon will be abated for the next 16 years, but Amazon will make payments in lieu of taxes (PILOT) during that time totaling $99,450,000 for the city.

Once the abatement period ends, Amazon will pay property taxes based on the city’s millage rate.

Is the district 203 budget deficit defensible…or are they wasting our property tax dollars

https://www.nctv17.org/news/naperville-203-budget-proposal-trims-deficit-focuses-on-fiscal-discipline/amp/

“The Naperville 203 School Board is set to amend this year’s budget to cover a new $31 million dollar overall deficit for this year. The budget proposed by Superintendent Bridges for next year includes a 6% increase in spending and a $40 million deficit per the proposed 2027 Budget Book.”

“District enrollment has declined by nearly 900 students over the last 12 years, yet staffing levels actually increased during that same period.”

36 yo, with three kids (2yo, 4yo, 6 yo). Wife and I are not planning any more kids. We live in Naperville, IL and are looking for neighborhood with schools that are better than our suburb, and want to live in area with similar family friendly things to do or visit.
Our budget is preferably an under $1.5M home but ok with up to $2M.

Am planning a 4-5 day trip to Dallas area later end of this month. Any specific neighborhoods we should check out?

Thanks
