Free parking downtown today
As it is a federal holiday, parking downtown is free.
However, the dipshit meter maids aren't aware of this, and are currently ticketing everyone downtown. Even after I told him the machines won't even accept payment, as today is a federal holiday and parking is free, he refused to void the ticket and told me I would have to dispute it with the city.
Very frustrating. Just trying to make folks aware.

"Rooky" is now a bot in the Chess.com app
His rating is extremely low. Is this a reference to how his species is different than humans when it comes to thinking and logic? Maybe how Eridians can't think as abstract as humans can.
I know that the Eridians have a crystal brain that can remember something forever, like writing it down. I bet if you were to somehow simulate millions and millions of chess games to an Eridian, it could memorize them all and become a grandmaster.

Fixed up an old GBC!
The unit would not power on when I got it. I gave the motherboard a thorough cleaning with isopropyl, which fixed the power issue. After that, I put on a new shell, buttons, and a backlit screen from a kit I bought on ebay.
Battery life, even with the backlit screen, is pretty good - about 6 hours with rechargeable batteries, and about 12 with non rechargeables.
This is my first time playing Gen II Pokémon. Loving it so far!
If I feel more adventurous, I might put in a USB C charging port - although, being able to swap in fresh batteries on the fly is pretty nice.
