Couples dancing at Oistins
It's my first time in Barbados and everyone said Oistins on a Friday night was the place to be. Despite being completely jet lagged and landing Friday afternoon, we dragged ourselves out.
As one of our party had a headache, we had to leave early
Shortly before we left I saw lots of couples dancing in the area where the famous Michael Jackson had been dancing. As someone who used to do lindy hop, I was transfixed and really loved watching the couples for the little time I could.
Is there anywhere else people dance like that, where I could go and watch? What is the etiquette - do people only dance with their romantic partners or spouses? Does anyone ask anyone to dance? Do bajans grow up just absorbing this incredibly musical dancing from elders?
Thanks for any tips!
