We hatched out 2 Indian blues

We ended up grabbing some peafowl eggs at an incredibly steep discount, 4 for $20. The individual who sold them to us had a small last minute clutch and she couldn't guarantee if they were viable or not, so we took the chance at $20. This morning I woke up to two perfectly beautifully healthy Indian blue peafowl chicks. The dream of owning one of my favorite birds on this planet has become a reality.

Forrest and LT Dan

I've had LT Dan for a while now. Unfortunately he hatched out with a defromed leg, original owner was unable to add him to her outdoor flock so I took him in as I'm home on the farm 24/7 and wanted an excuse for a house duck. LT Dan was and is still a bundle of joy. Every year we send eggs into the school for the classrooms to hatch out. Older kids learn about biology and younger ones get to cuddle chickens. Another batch of eggs was donated to the school from another local and in it was a Bantam egg. Well, hatched out and as you guessed from the title it too had a leg issue.

*It was not splayed just straight up crook deformed, I have never had an issue with my eggs I'm not sure if it's a diet thing on the other end*

It hops around pretty good but being a Bantam and being down a leg it's now a house chicken. In with LT Dan and now they are absolutely unseparable! I take the call duck everywhere with me, now I think I'm going to be taking a bantam chicken too because I can't leave his BFF behind! I just wanted to share this friendship now turned into an unbreakable bond.

Photo 1, was from 2 months ago

Photo 2, yesterday, bantam chicken is about 2 weeks old now, No idea what specific sub species it is.

LT Dan the disabled house duck

I would like to introduce LT Dan my disabled call duck who now lives the life of luxury. He hatched out with a backwards leg and a crooked foot. Eats, drinks, swims just fine. Unfortunately though he will not be a member of our flock. Instead he's been permoted to official cuddle buddy and ambassador of his species. He is 4 weeks old and still fits in the palm of my hand and goes everywhere with us *minus the grocery store or restaurant... We're not those people*
