I was filling my window washer water this morning and checking my oil when I noticed my coolant is below the minimum line. This was first thing in the morning, so the engine was cold. The car is parked on a flat surface. A few weeks ago a message flashed up on my dash. It came and went so fast that the only thing I registered was the word coolant. The message is gone. The only message lately was to top up the water for the window wipers.

My question is, is this coolant level normal for a cold engine, or do I need to add coolant or see a mechanic? I'm not very knowledgeable about cars. Advice appreciated.
