Over the past 2–3 years, property prices in Satara and Karad have increased significantly, despite both cities being smaller than Kolhapur and Sangli . Do you think this is because Pune's spillover effect has finally started reaching these cities?

I've noticed that property rates in Satara and Karad are now almost comparable to Kolhapur, and in some areas even on par with Sangli. I feel Pune's spillover effect is slowly beginning to play out.

Earlier, Satara was roughly 120 km from both Pune (GPO) and Kolhapur. Over the years, Pune's urban growth has gradually expanded southwards, while Satara has also seen development on its northern side. Some of the areas are almost 1 hour drive from Satara also the upcoming Pune international Airprt is merely 60-70 kms from Satara. As a result, Satara now feels much more integrated with the Pune region than it did a decade ago, with Karad not too far behind. with an only 1.5 hr drive.

Despite being smaller than Kolhapur and sangli, Satara seems to be gaining momentum. It got its IT park sanctioned before Kolhapur, and there have been reports of companies like Tesla, JSW, and Adani scouting land in Satara district, where land is relatively cheaper while still being much closer to the Pune market.

If this trend continues, do you think Satara district could eventually catch up with even overtake Kolhapur and sangli in terms of investment and economic growth?

Why are so many Indian Army soldiers from Satara, Sangli, and Kolhapur when Maharashtra is such a large state with 36 districts?

From what I've observed, a significant number of Indian Army personnel seem to come from the Satara, Sangli, and Kolhapur region, especially Satara standing out in particular.

There appears to be a deep sense of patriotism and pride in military service, with many families viewing service to the nation even the ultimate sacrifice of returning draped in the Tricolour as a matter of honour. I've also noticed that people from this region are often physically robust they are stronger and taller than rest of the people from the state, with a strong sporting culture, and distinct dietary traditions especially non-veg.

I've come across numerous senior Army officers and multi generational military families from these districts. What explains this strong military tradition and sense of pride? Is it something that is instilled from childhood through family values, local culture, and role models?

Why is there overrepresentation of Kolhapuri-Satara Culture in Marathi mainstream entertainment Industry?

Maharashtra is a pretty diverse state with a lot of different regions, each with its own culture, dialect, and identity.Mumbai and Pune naturally get a lot of representation in movies and web series because of their urban setting. But when it comes to rural Maharashtra, it often feels like Kolhapur and Satara are the go to regions. Whether it's a story about the Army, Police, village politics, history, or sports, the characters and setting often seem to come from these areas.I get that many shooting locations are around these regions and a lot of actors and filmmakers have roots there. But Maharashtra has so much more to offer. Regions like Vidarbha, Marathwada, Khandesh, Konkan, and others have their own unique stories, cultures, and dialects that deserve to be seen on screen too.

A little more balanced representation would do a better job of showing just how diverse Maharashtra really is.
