appealing finaid

the situation is basically that my parents are divorced (10+ years) and i was raised mostly by my mother whose income is less than 45k a year while my father makes over 100k a year.

my financial aid puts the out of pocket price at around 18k and im planning to appeal to see if i can get it any lower but id like some advice for what exactly i should appeal to:

  1. if i explain that my father will not contribute anything towards my tuition will they care at all or do they strictly consider legal family assets and not parents willingness to contribute

  2. since my aid is entirely based on my fathers income, should i mention incidents that affect this i.e. his car getting totaled, another car having to get repaired and not being covered by insurance , his water bill increasing to 1k a month ETC

any insight from students who have successfully appealed is greatly appreciated

sophomore transfer pre med advice needed

i just got accepted to wellesley as a sophomore transfer (yay) and i intend to major in neuroscience as a pre med

i honestly havent researched much into wellesley and the opportunities available so i wanted to know if there are any specific opportunities for sophomore transfer students since i know many first year programs and the sophomore early research will be unavailable to me

also if anyone who has transferred as a pre med has any advice for me for getting into labs and research opportunities, acclimatizing to the rigor of the school, shadowing clinical and internship opportunities in boston etc that would be greatly appreciated

thank you!
