Rhyme or Reason to sensitivities?

Hi all,

So ever since I started on my perfume journey a couple years ago, I have noticed I am "sensitive" to some fragrances. I've always known I am sensitive to fragrance generally, as I cannot handle any kind of plug in fresheners or dryer sheets or anything like that, they give me headaches. When I started with perfume, I noticed some things seemed to irritate me, like make me sneezy or my eyes water. I've been keeping an excel sheet to track what I try in order to make sense of it, but 2 years in and I am still struggling!

I can tell some houses must use something consistently that irriate me, and those are pretty easy to spot and I stay away from them. But then I have some houses that some are great and some are terrible and the notes list give me no clue.

For example, I first tried Poesie and had really bad reactions to them, but it was mostly their cardamom scents. Some of their scents, like Titania, I have no issue with and absolutely LOVE. I just got their bunny collection and 400 Bunnies has me sneezing up a stoooormmm this morning and I just for the life of me can't figure out what in it could be an issue--bunny musk?!

Or, is it also possible that it's just the way the odor molecules effect my nose on any given day? Like the way they "bind"? (can you tell I am not a nose scientist here... lol). I know I should try each scent again to see if they irritate me again but it's not fun...like fool me once, you know?

Does anyone else deal with sensitivities, and if so, how do you approach trying new things? I mean thankfully mine aren't so bad that I am afraid to try most things--I can handle the occasional headache or sneeze fest. But, it's not ideal and I'd love to hear what others do to handle/figure it out!

I think this is also a way for me to vent because I really wanted to love 400 Rabbits. The thought of it is wonderful, I love me a margarita...

Custom Perfume Advice

Hi all!

I have decided to treat myself to a little custom perfume from Epically Epic to celebrate entering my final year of my doctoral program (a little motivation to push me through this dissertation hell....). For their process, you pick your notes but can also ask for specific %s. I love perfume but I have absolutely NO experience with making them and struggle with the vision haha. So hoping for some advice from people with more artistic/perfumistic talents than me!

I really want to make one with carnation and oatmeal cookie, but what other notes do you think would enhance this? Some kind of spice? Also, if I wanted to add a "raisin" aspect--would fig or currant work better?

What kind of %s do you think I should use? I am thinking higher % carnation so it doesn't get lost in the gourmandyness?

Thanks for any advice you can give!

D.grayi catnip question

This may be a silly question but has anyone tried the catnip perfume that d.grayi has? And does it have actual effects on cats? My cats go truly bonkers around catnip and start fighting each other so I’m curious about the perfume but don’t want to instigate cat wars in my house… haha

Hi all! I often drink a lavender latte and as I was sipping today, I was thinking about how nice a coffee and lavender, or coffee and other florals, scent would be! I have one from Osmofolia called Cabin, which I actually haven't tried yet but am going to fish out of my sample pile today!

I'd love to hear if anyone has any other coffee/lavender or coffee/floral combos? Extreme bonus points if it's coffee and carnation because I have a deeeeep love for carnation scents.

Thanks!

Alright, I have now tried 3 scents from Pineward (Delfyn, Peradam, and Clemenpine) and I am genuinely OBSESSED. I am kind of picky with scents and almost never want to FS, and I could see myself FS all 3 of these. Every single one is just so beautifully done. So, Pineward can just take all my money. It's hilarious to me I hesitated to try them for so long because I had no interest in smelling like trees. They are so much more than their trees.... lol.

So please, hit me with ALL your Pineward recommendations!! Especially for fall and winter scents because I think I will be doing a haul from them for the colder months.
