ECCO the dolphin - an extremely odd and frustrating game

Finally beat this game after so many years later, but with save states

It's such an oddball of a game. The music is quite beautiful, the sprite work and art style still somewhat holds up, but the gameplay itself is so confusing and that scary air resource management triggers at bad times.

For me this has to be the most difficult 16 bit game for all the wrong reasons.

If you are struggling to use Ducky LSFG Plugin and seeing problems like still terrible framerate and artifacting then follow the following instructions:

  1. First from the game settings ensure you are running in Borderless window.
  2. After that set frame limit to 30, turn v sync OFF and close the game.
  3. Now open the LSFG-VK Plugin menu and from here set the following parameters:
  4. multiplier = 2x, flowscale = 78%, Base FPS CAP = 30 (Only if the game does NOT have a frame limit option else don't change it), Present Mode (FIFO - VSync) ON, Performance mode OFF (if you feel your steamdeck heating up during game session, then turn it ON), HDR ON.
  5. Copy the launch options command and in game properties save the command in launch properties field.
  6. From game's performance tab, set FPS CAP to 60, set "Allow Tearing" to ON.
  7. Run the game

This configuration has worked for me on Spider-Man remastered, Resident Evil 4R and Requiem, God of War 2018, Stellar Blade, Cronos, Silent Hill 2 (with eclipse mod), MGS Delta (with eclipse mod), Ninja Gaiden 4, DOOM dark ages, and both Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor (with eclipse mod).

Only so far this configuration for me did not work with GTFO.

Also note that for LSFG to properly work your game has to hit a perfectly constant base 30fps without the multiplier. Without constant framerate, the multiplier will cause alot of artifacting issues.
