This clip is from Garandthumb on YouTube. He shoots a ballistics dummy with a modified BAR. The biggest differences between the BAR and AR is that the BAR shoots 30.06 which is slightly more powerful than the AR’s 7.62 NATO (although after 500 years of ballistics improvements I’m sure the 7.62 is at least somewhat more powerful in Halo compared to modern day). It also only has a 20 round mag which is 1/3 of the CE assault rifle’s capacity.

Based on this clip (and other knowledge I have on ballistics/ physics), It’s quite obvious why the UNSC was able to stand a chance against the covenant on the ground. I’m sure elite and jackal shields were tough to crack, but any unshielded enemy (from grunts to brutes) would be blown to pieces by a single burst of the AR. This contrasts greatly to the games weapon sandbox in which the AR is just a glorified nerf blaster. Hopefully one day we can see a more realistic model, even if it’s not in a mainline title.
