Cork, Ireland. She Survived Surgery!
Well this dotey little fighter MADE IT through surgery! 🙌🏻
She is 3 days post op and doing well. Despite our best efforts at getting her body weight up over the last 3 weeks (between her bad eye exploding twice, a persistent URI, a 'good' eye infection, and an ear infection), she only managed to get up to 800g. The vets didn't want to go ahead, but given her weight gain and appetite were both steadily decreasing we felt we would lose her to a systemic infection if the surgery didn't go ahead.
We are so grateful that she made it, so now begins the long journey of healing, vaccinations, getting her spayed, etc.
She is approximately 2.5 months old now and she is SASSY 😂
That farm kitten energy is coming back already and she is keeping us on our toes. The local charity West Cork Animal Welfare Group have been incredibly supportive and have helped to fund the surgery. They were so happy with the outcome and said they have rarely seen a kitten in such a bad way do so well, and be nurtured for so long with some success.
Just to think over 3 weeks ago she couldn't see out of either eyes, had so many infections and was riddled with lice and parasites, sat in the middle of a country road. She weighed about 400g and didn't poop for almost 2 days after demolishing 2 pouches of food a day 🙈
Thanks to everyone who supported the last post - I'm not an official fosterer or anything so I'm doing this very solo just with the support of the charity, so it was really nice to be able to talk about it here 😊 hope this good news story makes a few people smile - every little life is worth fighting for ❤️
