Logic puzzles dragging score down. Any advice?

Hi guys, my mocks are beginning to improve (slightly) thanks to y’all’s advice and hopefully it’s permanent rather than just a temporary thing bcs on wallahi I will crash out 🫪

I’ve been struggling with logic puzzles for quite a long time and I feel like they’re the main thing dragging my DM down from the 800s.

When I do logic puzzles I’m super prone to making mistakes and messing up. For example, I messed up 4 questions in this mock, and each one took me 1.5+ minutes.

The problem is that it takes me ages for the information to "click," and I’m still really prone to things like messing up my two-way table.

I think part of it is the time pressure too because when I practise questions on medify I feel way less stressed to go fast. But even under untimed conditions, I still take a long time to process them (usually 2+ minutes for medium level 2 way tables).

Just wanna know you guys approach to logic puzzles and advice? Any tips would be really appreciated.

I’ve also found Medify logic puzzles sm harder than MedEntry? because they give you so few direct clues, so it takes much longer for everything to make sense when I read it.

Also, I’ve watched all Emil eddy method and joyel George (I use his method) and yeah it’s js not working the best rn.

UCAT plateauing one month out 😭

Hi everyone,

I'm really stressed about the UCAT. My exam is in less than a month, and despite studying consistently, I feel like I've completely plateaued.

I've been doing around one Medify mock every day, and my scores have been stuck in the 2000s. My section scores are usually around:

VR: ~650 DM: ~700 QR: ~700

I'm aiming for at least 2350+ to give myself a realistic chance for dentistry, but right now that feels so far away and I feel really stressed out because I’m taking a gap year and redoing so I feel like it will all be pointless unless I get a good score.

The attached screenshots are from some of my recent mocks, and they all look pretty similar. No matter what I do, I can't seem to break through this ceiling.

After each mock, I review my mistakes, note it all down, etc. I feel like I'm putting in the hours without seeing any improvement, and it's starting to affect my confidence.

I keep getting panicky in the middle of the night and I should probably sleep but it’s really like a positive feedback loop I feel just soooo pressured to do well 💀

TOO MANY silly mistakes in Decision Making

My caption is in the above image (second image) because I got banned for some reason 🤔

To summarise, basically mistakes in every section accumulates in DM and I get a lower score than I could potentially achieve.

Any advice appreciated.

Sus Syllogisms Medify Pt 2

What does the phrase “the only company employees who are board members are the executive leadership team” mean?

Is it some logic I’m missing again?

VR issue - When to ACTUALLY appropriately make inferences

This is a recurring pattern and issue I’ve seen in my VR 🤧🤧🤧

I think that the UCAT expects a reasonable inference from the author’s wording. But I was always taught that unless the passage directly states something, I shouldn't assume it's true?

For example, in the question above, I’m asked to evaluate: "Lowry's artistic works on Industrial Britain continue to move people to this day."

Yes I know the passage said that much of his work is still on display today and is "ready to provoke and emote,” but I still chose "Can't Tell" instead of “True” because the passage never explicitly stated that people today are ACTUALLY BEING MOVED by the paintings. I guess that was wrong though?

So I guess my question is: where do you draw the line between a valid inference and an unsupported assumption?

Also any rules of thumb?

Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Advice for improving UCAT QR from mid-700s to 800s?

I’ve been plateauing in QR lately and it’s getting pretty frustrating. I consistently score around 31/36 or 32/36 on both Medify and MedEntry mocks, which usually scales to about 750. The annoying part is that getting just 1–2 extra questions right would probably push it to 800. 💔

Most of the questions I miss fall into two categories:

1-2 are usually the longer, more difficult questions I skip and run out of time and will TRY to come back to.

The other 2–3 are silly mistakes, things like unit conversions, misreading tables/graphs, or simple calculation errors.

That’s the part I’m struggling with most. I KNOW how to do the questions, but I still keep making a few careless mistakes every mock no matter how much practice I do. I’ve done loads of question bank practice already, but it still feels inevitable that I’ll drop marks to small errors.

I’ve had basically the same result across my last 5 mocks, so I’m not really sure how to break past this plateau.

Asking for advice, especially from people who managed to push their QR score from the mid-700s to 800+, especially after being stuck in a similar position.

Always looking for ways to improveee
