Tree down... Can I save it?

Ok, that title was a bit sarcastic. I'm interested in others opinions on how to buck this one.

I'm inclined to start near the base, letting the roots fall back and then working my way up from there. Until I get half close to the house. Once closer to the house, I was planning on pulling it off the roof and then continuing once it's all on the ground.

I've felled a few trees before so, I'm not a novice but also not too proud to ask for advice.

Please let me know your thoughts on the safest way to handle this mess.

Visiting later this year - Casablanca or Gibraltar

A group of us, ages 45 to 78, are planning a trip later this year from the US. We're starting in Portugal and will be flying to Morocco. We know that we'll spend time in Fez, a night in the desert, and visit Tangier.

Direct flights to/from are ranked pretty high for a couple of those traveling with us. So the last remaining question is should we go back to Lisbon via Gibraltar or should we conclude our trip in Casablanca as both cities have direct flights for us.

We've never been to either and are looking for advice.

Is the ferry to Gibraltar worth it? And if so, would you take the ferry to/from it or would you take the ferry one way and then hop on a train to Lisbon?
