For those working in Qatar’s O&G sector, does this package look below market, about average, or above average?

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently received an offer from an oil & gas company in Qatar and am expected to relocate around December.

I’m from Malaysia, and my wife and our newborn will be moving with me.

From what I’ve read, the company will process my QID first, which may take around 3 weeks after I arrive.

I have a couple of questions for those who have gone through a similar experience:

1. Can my wife and newborn enter Qatar on Visa on Arrival and then have their status converted to a Residence Permit (Family RP) while they are still in Qatar? Or do they need to leave the country and re-enter after my QID is issued?

2. While I’m waiting for my QID (and before they have their Residence Permits and Hamad Health Card), what happens if my newborn needs medical treatment or has an emergency? Are we expected to pay private rates? Roughly how much should I expect to pay for common consultations, emergency visits, or hospitalization?

I’m trying to plan our relocation as smoothly as possible and understand the financial implications during those first few weeks.
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this recently, especially if you relocated with a young child.
