All doors are closed. Lost everything in business, buried in debt, and struggling to survive in Qatar. Just need to vent / looking for a sales job.

It’s been more than a month now, and I haven’t earned a single riyal.

I work in the Oud (Agarwood) business, which is highly cultural and traditional here in Qatar. Years ago, I used to make a very good living doing this. But for the past few years, it’s just been heavy losses after heavy losses. I got buried in debt. To make matters worse, some dishonest people took my stock and completely vanished—blocking my number and running away with a massive amount of my money.

In a desperate bid to protect myself, I invested whatever I had left to formally open a trading company, getting my CR and commercial license. I thought doing everything legally with paperwork and proper invoices would stop people from cheating me. But even after establishing the company, nothing is going right. I don't have the initial investment left to sustain it, and the market feels completely stuck.

I’ve never thought about doing a regular job before because my business used to be highly successful, but now I’m actively searching, and doors are slamming in my face. I brought my elderly parents and family here on visas, hoping to give them a comfortable life, but now I am struggling to even put food on the table.

Lately, I have turned completely towards Allah—praying 5 times a day, praying Tahajjud, and reading the Quran daily, seeking any sign of relief. But the financial stress is becoming too much to bear. It feels like my mind is shutting down, and I’ve honestly hit the lowest, darkest point of my entire life.

I am not posting this to ask anyone for a single riyal. I just really need to know—is anyone else experiencing this severe downturn in Qatar right now, or am I completely alone in this?

At this point, a stable sales job is my only hope just to survive and support my household, because a job alone won't even clear the massive debt I owe, but it will at least keep us alive. If anyone knows of any sales openings or can offer any guidance, please let me know. More than anything, please just keep me in your prayers. I have never seen worse days than these.

Snoonu internships

How much is the compensation package? And do they offer transport allowance or you have to spend from the salary they give you? Considering lusail is pretty far I need to know what to expect and whether uber will eat most of the salary. Also how likely are you to land a full time offer after? Thanks.
People and culture btw.

21f looking for suggestions for suitable jobs during semester off

hi everyone, im a 21f and a student at QU. prior to applying to uni, i took a few gap years where I worked in sales, hostessing and tutoring but didnt last long in any of them as I was mostly looking for temporary/part time jobs in hopes I could save up for uni fees during that short period. fast forward to now, I had to take this semester off as I couldn't pay the outstanding fees. since I live in a single parent household with 4 other siblings my only real option was to borrow the amount from family or family friends to cover it and continue to the next semester, but I didnt want to drown my mother in more debts so here I am. I tried applying for student employment but as a first year I couldn't and now find it very hard to find any jobs that I meet the skills needed for. so if anyone has any suggestions as to what jobs I should consider applying to..? or any advice in general as to how to fill my time productivly during these few months that'd be very helpful, thank you

(also I apologize for the writing if it seems a bit confusing Im currently running on no sleep and I misplaced my glasses so I can barely see what I'm writing lol)

How do I get PCC (Police clearance certificate)? HR says one thing, my friends say another

HR says The Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) needs to be obtained and issued directly from the competent and issued directly from the competent authorities in your home country (such as the ministry of Interior, local police headquarters, or your country’s embassy).

but my friends said ive been living in qatar for a long time that I can just get it from Metrash.

The GCC bureaucracy is so confusing...

after 200 applications and 9 job interviews I finally got a job and I have 2 weeks to submit these documents.

Domestic worker in Qatar — employer holds passport, no day off, excessive hours, wants to change employer. Has anyone successfully transferred?

Hi everyone. I’m currently working in Qatar as a domestic worker and I want to ask if anyone here has been in a similar situation and successfully changed employers or left safely.

My situation:

Employer keeps my passport

I have very limited freedom/time outside

I want to resign/change employer legally

I’m worried my employer may refuse or block the transfer

I’m also considering filing a complaint if necessary

I want to know:

Were you able to transfer employers without major problems?

Did you need employer approval?

What happened after filing a labor complaint?

How long did the process take?

Did anyone manage to get their passport back through official channels?

Is notice period ever waived in situations like this?

I’m trying to handle things legally and safely, so I’d appreciate real experiences or advice from people who went through this in Qatar.

Thank you.

Relocating from the EU

Hello everyone,

I've been considering leaving Germany for a while now and Qatar is one of the best alternatives that comes to mind. I would appreciate some advice from people who have been in a similar situation.

Quick background: Studied Software Engineering in Germany and have 5-6 YOE across multiple firms, mainly as a technical/IT Consultant.
Fluent in German, Arabic, and English.

Thing is, I’ve been browsing openings through (LinkedIn, GulfTalent, Naukrigulf) but so far the search feels a bit inefficient.

My questions are:
- What would be a realistic time frame for such a move?
- Do companies hire directly from abroad?
- What would be a more effective way of exploring the market? (Like are there official non scammy companies in Qatar that help with landing interviews such as Hays, Bechtle in Germany?)

Any tips or honest insights would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

QDF/QATAR AIRWAYS

Hi everyone,

Is anyone here currently stuck in “Offer in Progress” with Qatar Duty Free / Qatar Airways recruitment?

I received a verbal offer for a position a while ago and was informed the formal offer would follow, but there has been a long delay and I haven’t received any response to follow-up emails yet.

For those who experienced something similar:

• How did you contact the Talent Acquisition / Recruitment team?

• Did they respond to emails or calls?

• How long did it take for you to receive the formal offer or onboarding update?

Would really appreciate hearing about your experience. Thank you!

"No need for an NOC to change jobs" is a massive myth.

I recently received a job offer with a 50% hike in my package. I recently resigned from my current employer and applied for a position at ADALSA. However, my application was rejected under reason code 4. When I inquired with MOL, they informed me that the rejection was due to a lack of a NOC (No Objection Certificate) from my current employer. I have been employed with my current employer for over 1.5 years.

Recently I saw posts about "No NOC is required," and I feel all this is utterly a lie.

I don't know what options I have. Should I have to take my resignation back, or is there any option that I can go with?

Qatar graduates from 2023-2026, where are you now?

Greetings, everyone. I hope everyone is doing wonderful. I just wanted to express my slight anxiety on the current job market, my friends' parents are getting laid off, people I know have been unemployed for a while, I need to know what happened to the people who graduated in Qatar the past 2 years.

I'm still a third-year finance student, approaching my fourth next Fall. I want to know any advice from people to land a job in our current job market. So a little information about me, I'm on my third internship right now, I have my fourth secured as well this summer. I still have to do another internship required by the university on my last semester therefore I'll be graduating with 5 internships. (3 MNCs, 1 start-up so far) I've part-timed in another MNC and a government sector. I've also published a macroeconomics research paper. However, due to juggling through everything it has affected my GPA and I'm no longer a candidate for honors.

I've applied both fairly and through wasta, 100% of the time I get into the internship/job through wasta however whenever I apply fairly I tend to get lost among the other applications. I'd say I roughly only get 2-4 replies and 1 offer for every 20 I've applied. However, I can't help but feel like maybe I'm incompetent because it's so hard to find companies that get back at you and I'm only getting into jobs through connections. Don't get me wrong, I can recognize that I'm in a more favorable position and I am eternally grateful. I just feel like I'm not good enough for other companies (the ones I want)

Questions for graduates:
1. What was the experience when looking for a job?
2. Will it hurt to not graduate with honors?
3. Does GPA matter more than internships?
4. Any tips on finding work after university?

Your answers would be of great help, maybe we can all learn from eachother so we all secure jobs.

HR/Recruitment/Talent LinkedIN

Why do these people accept connections but then don’t reply to messages?
Can someone in HR/Recruitment/Talent explain the reason/reasoning behind it
