PART TIME TUTORS NEEDED

If you’re interested in making some pocket money, this might be the gig for you.

Hi everyone,

I am currently in the early stages of launching a new tutoring platform and I am looking to onboard tutors. If you're interested, please send me a message!

The platform takes only a 10% commission on each lesson.

There is a flat monthly fee that is paid to tutors (whether they do teach that month or not). So you will still get paid even if you don’t teach any student BUT you still have to log into the website and show that you’re online.

Tutors are required to log into the website regularly and be available for sessions.

Confused between 2 offers. Flipkart india-techno functional role or IT Executive at qatar.

I am currently working as a software engineer particularly in AI and automation. At 3LPA. I have got 2 offers (both through reference).

One is from Qatar, it's an IT Executive role, most of which will be support work, at 3.5k QAR. The company is based on construction material supplier, the job will be in their head office ( visibility will be good as the managers and senior managers and head of region will also be working from the same office.

Another is from Flipkart india, flipkart role is NOT the standard SDE role. I will be required to even travel to multiple warehouses and identifying inefficiencies in supply chain operations and fix them using technology (only if it can be solved using tech). The role is paying 8-10LPA.

I am confused, I am not fond of chasing every new AI framework. But i am really good at development. I need to make a decision,

If I choose the qatar based role then maybe get cloud certifications then move to cloud/devops or maybe get IT Management certifications and move towards IT management?

Or should I play it safe at flipkart?

What if I identify pain points at the qatar's business operations and approach the manager (ofcourse after gaining his trust) and say I can automate some parts of his work using AI?

That way I can put I have worked on AI based usecases at this role.

Apart from this, I am also involved in a startup (not official yet but we do have paying clients here in India and the products are in AI).

Maybe I can also put this work under the IT Executive title and apply for AI based roles there?

How does this plan sound? Is it doable if determined?

Even if I don't get the AI automation work(if the manager is not convinced). I can still do the cloud certifications and ge tinto system admin or cloud roles? (At 2years Exp. 1year indian software developer + 1year as IT Executive at qatar)?

What do you guys think? What should I do?

At qatar, accomodation is provided, transportation is not needed as the flat is just right next to the company office. So only food expense will be a major expense.

What do y'all think? What should I do? How easy will it be for me to switch after a year in Qatar as IT Executive - Business Automation role?

I’m looking for some advice about getting admission to Qatar University

Hi everyone,

I’m a Bangladeshi currently living in Qatar, and I’m planning to continue my studies at Qatar University. I’m a little confused about the admission process and what I need to do to become eligible, so I thought I’d ask here.

I have completed my HSC in Bangladesh, and I’m also currently studying BBA in Accounting. I’m interested in continuing my education at Qatar University, but I’m not sure whether I can apply based on my current academic background.

I’d really appreciate it if someone could explain a few things:

  • Can a Bangladeshi/Qatar resident apply to Qatar University?
  • What are the admission requirements?
  • What documents would I need?
  • Do I need IELTS or another English test?
  • Is there any difference between applying as an international student and as a Qatar resident?
  • Are scholarships or financial assistance available?
  • What is the best way to prepare before applying?

If anyone here has gone through the Qatar University admission process, I’d really appreciate your advice or personal experience.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to help me.

Visa Rejection

Hi everyone,

I’m an Indian national and I’m looking for some advice from people who have experienced something similar with Qatar work visas.

About a year ago, I received a job offer from a company in Qatar. When the company started processing my work visa, my application was rejected twice. The other candidates who applied around the same time got their visas approved, but mine was rejected.

I checked the Qatar MOI visa status, but it didn’t show any specific or valid reason for the rejection. Because of this uncertainty, I eventually decided not to leave my existing job and dropped the opportunity. By means time i travelled to other middle-eastern countries multiple times without any issue.

Recently, about a month ago, the same company approached me again, this time offering a higher salary and better package. I accepted the offer, and they started the visa process again.

Unfortunately, the visa was rejected again.

The company’s PRO went to enquire about the issue, and they were apparently told that it might be related to my previous Hayya visa/exit record not being updated properly.

For context, I had previously travelled to Qatar on a Hayya visit visa and stayed there for around two months before leaving Qatar.

Now I’m trying to understand what could actually be causing these repeated rejections.

Could a previous Hayya visit/exit record really affect a new employment visa application? Or could there be another issue?

Has anyone here experienced multiple Qatar work visa rejections despite having a genuine job offer, especially after previously visiting Qatar on a Hayya visa?

If you managed to resolve a similar situation, how did you find the actual reason and what did you do to get the visa approved?

Any genuine experience or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Qatar Work Visa Under Process for 8+ Weeks

Hi everyone,

My Qatar work visa has been showing “Under Process” for more than 8 weeks now, and I wanted to see if anyone has experienced something similar.

It’s for a managerial/professional position, and all my required education documents have been properly attested in Lebanon and Qatar.

As far as I know, nothing is missing from my side and there hasn’t been any rejection or request for additional documents, the status has simply remained unchanged.

I’m Lebanese and applying from Lebanon.

Has anyone had their work visa stay under process for this long and eventually get approved? How long did yours take, and is this kind of delay normal?

Would really appreciate any recent experiences.

I never imagined this would happen

After applying hard for more than 500 jobs now. I have decided to work on myself and do some freelance stuff. One of my cousins was looking to open an infleuncer account for himself. So, I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to build my portfolio with him. So, 2 weeks ago we started his instagram page and now all our reels are crossing an average of 1k views with average likes of 50 per post and a monthly reach of 17k. I know this is not huge but an account with 138 followers and just a 2 week of consistent posting I beleive this is a good result. So, I have decided to move forward with this.

If you are someone who needs a person to manage your social handle or to shoot and edit your reels. I am here to help you. As a freelancer I have decided to keep my rates around 40 QAR per video. So, If anyone is interested you can reach me out.

Btw do follow my brothers page on Instagram 😅 - @pulsenplates

Would you choose peace of mind or a higher salary?

I’m a recent graduate (2025), my background is Electrical Engineering. Three months after graduating I landed a job for a local company in a semi-technical/procurement role that has no career growth. My salary was 8,000 today I resigned as I can’t deal with a coworker anymore after landing a role for a six months internship that only pays 2,000 with a possibility of getting hired full-time after the internship evaluation.

I’m here asking for opinions or what you would have done differently? I was so sure of my decision before but now I’m not sure if I did the right thing.

Dress Code

Hello everyone, I am not Qatari but born in Qatar, raised in Qatar and grew up amongst Qatari friends whom I’m very happy to still be around today.

Therefore I regularly wear the national costume of Qatar. I worked my entire life in the private sector where the dress code was shirt and tie, but now I got the opportunity to switch to the public sector as I have an interview soon. Is it allowed for me to wear thoub in a public sector job? This is mainly because I was told by someone that he wasn’t allowed in his semi government office job as he is from a non GCC Arab nationality. Can anyone confirm this is true, I don’t believe it tbh.

Thank you and may Allah keep this country always prosperous.

Fresh graduate looking for advice on breaking into the Qatar job market

Just graduated this year with a BSc in Business Economics from a UK university and have now moved back to the Middle East. I’m a US citizen and have lived in the region for several years.

My experience so far includes working at a boutique consulting/finance firm, managing a student consulting project, and working as a data analyst for a university research organisation. I wasn’t able to secure a graduate role in the UK, partly due to the current job market and being an international student.

I’m now looking at Qatar for my first proper full-time role. I’m open to finance, consulting, analytics, etc., but I’m not really sure which direction to take. Audit/accounting doesn’t particularly interest me, although I’m open to it.

I’ve been advised to prioritise getting into a major reputable company, Big 4, major bank, or established financial firm to build a stronger CV and potentially specialise or move internationally later.

For those who have broken into the Qatar job market as a fresh graduate, what would you recommend focusing on? Is getting a recognisable company on your CV the priority, or should I be more selective about the type of role?

Any advice on finding graduate/junior opportunities in Qatar would be greatly appreciated.

British, 44 — Leave Europe after 18 years for Qatar? Need honest opinions

I’m 44, British passport holder, originally Egyptian so Arabic is my first language. Married with one young son who is nursery age. I’ve lived in the UK for 16 years and then moved to Norway 2 years ago, and honestly we’re nowhere near feeling at home here. We don’t speak Norwegian, hate the dark winters, don’t ski or hike and just don’t feel we belong. The Norwegian passport doesn’t interest me as I already have a British one.

Financially I’m doing ok. I have a full time job plus a couple of consulting contracts and my total take home after tax in Norway is roughly the same as what the Qatar offer pays tax free. The problem is my consulting contracts expire soon with no guaranteed renewal and my employer is a startup with an uncertain future.

I’ve received a permanent contract offer with a major energy company in Doha with a full family package covering housing, medical, school fees, annual flights home, furniture grant, car loan and 37 days leave. All tax free.

Qatar appeals to me for obvious reasons. Arabic is my language, the culture feels familiar, the weather is something we’d genuinely enjoy and the international community there would be great for my wife. Our son is young enough that this is probably the best time to make a move like this.

What holds me back is the current regional situation. Not just personal safety but the longer term economic impact on Qatar and the wider Gulf. If instability continues for years what does that actually mean for job security, quality of life and the future? Is Qatar resilient enough to weather this long term?

Leaving Europe after 18 years also feels significant even if Norway never truly felt like home.

Would you make this move? Any expats in Qatar with a young family — how is life really on the ground? And how are people feeling about the regional situation day to day?

Canadian Pharmacist Manager + Audit Senior Manager (CPA, Public Company/IFRS/SEC) looking at relocation to Doha with family. Realistic market check?

We are a dual-income family currently based in Canada (Canadian citizens) considering a potential move to Qatar, and I’d appreciate an honest reality check on compensation, market demand, and lifestyle parity for our backgrounds.
Myself: ~14 years in Canada, 11 years as a retail Pharmacy Manager.
Wife: CPA Canada credential, Senior Manager on track for Partner. Expertise in Public Company Audit, Energy & Mining, cross-border reporting, IFRS, US GAAP, PCAOB, CAS, and TSX/TSXV/SEC issuers.
Family: 2 school-aged kids.
Questions for the sub:
Audit/Finance Market Demand: With her strong background in Big 4/major firm public company audits (IFRS, cross-border reporting, Energy sector), how strong is the demand in Doha for a Senior Manager level audit leader transitioning into local Big 4 offices, major family conglomerates, or state-owned energy/investment entities (e.g., QatarEnergy, QIA)?
Pharmacy Market: How is the hiring market for experienced North American pharmacy managers? I know retail pharmacy salaries in Qatar generally lag behind Canadian pay. Are hospital systems (Hamad Medical Corporation, Sidra Medicine) or corporate pharmaceutical/distribution roles offering competitive packages for Western-trained management?
Total Compensation & Family Expenses: Considering the cost of top-tier private international schooling for two kids, what total household compensation package (base salary + housing allowance + education allowance) should we realistically target to match or exceed an upper-middle-class Canadian standard of living after tax savings?
Appreciate any insights from expats in healthcare, Big 4 accounting, or energy finance in Doha!
