Urban planning meetup?

Hello! I am wondering if there are other urban planning nerds in Groningen that would like to meet up, walk around with city, and discuss urbanism? I personally have a deep interest in intersections/traffic light programming but of course am happy to discuss anything urban planning related.

For some context: I am 18M, was born in the United States, and moved here a little under a year ago to study physics, but I have a deep passion for urban planning (which was the main motivation for moving here). Ik kan ook Nederlands spreken, maar ik weet niet of ik goed genoeg ben om een echt gesprek over stadsplanning te voeren.

Problems with the traffic AI at intersections

Private cars still consistently use bus-only lanes (1st image, on the left). Note that here, private cars should only be allowed to turn right, while buses are allowed to go straight, but seemingly cars are not willing to take a detour.

And then in the second image, the highlighted car is in the wrong lane (and no, there are no "unsafe" paths from this lane, they are only allowed to go straight or right). This seriously disrupts the flow of the intersection and means that when cars get a green to go straight, not a single car will move just because this car needs to turn left. This seems to happen when cars re-route close to the intersection, causing them to be in the wrong lane but they also don't even seem to try to get into the correct lane until they are at the stop line. This causes huge traffic jams.

Are there solutions to these problems?
