Picking btwn apartments in Crystal and Pentagon City

hello!

I need some advice on moving to Arlington and picking between apartments. My friend and I and compromising and living in Crystal/ Pentagon City for her commute to Downtown DC and mine to Old Town Alexandria. We both have cars but she will exclusively be taking the metro and I will most likely switch between the 2 depending on the day. We toured a couple apartments and are trying to decide between Crystal House, Crystal Flats, 1401 Joyce st and MAA National Landing. I really liked National Landing and Crystal Flats and she really likes 1401 Joyce St but Crystal House is the cheapest, so we are trying to decide if the comfort of one of the other apartments would be worth the price. Obviously things are cheap for a reason, we know that Crystal House has a lot of construction going on and the parking situation is trash (we’d have to park at Quimby apt or be on a waitlist for the small amount of garage parking they have).

Anyone currently living in Crystal House can you tell me if the construction noises are really bad during the day? I will be working from home 2-3 days per week so that is a big concern for me. For reference, we would be on the 12th floor in the 1900 building, facing the opposite side of the pool (so not as much visible construction). I have also heard management is bad?

Can anyone also tell me about living in MAA National Landing, Crystal Flats and 1401 Joyce st? Those are our top choices but they are obviously more expensive. I am also very surprised at MAA National Landing’s prices, I definitely thought they’d be more expensive because they are on top of all the restaurants and such. Is there a secret catch I wasn’t able to pick up on?

Any advice or help would be appreciated!
