flair cancels both flights but only reschedules 1

Here's a good one....I recently booked a return trip on Flair, Vancouver-Guadalajara. Yesterday I received an email informing me that my return flight had been cancelled, but good news! Flair had kindly rescheduled my return flight to the next day. I was supposed to either accept the change or cancel the return flight reservation for a refund. BUT they made no mention of the departure flight at all. I eventually found out by checking their website that the departure flight had also been cancelled.

So what were they waiting for? Did they hope I would accept the new return and only then they would tell me the departure would also be changed, in the hope that by accepting the change to the return I would have to accept a change to my departure (which they were not telling me about) since I was locked in to the new return?

Their email gave me the option of a refund of the return ticket, but no mention was made of the departure ticket.

Took me several hours on the website and chatbot, which was not that helpful until the 5th try or so. All the while I was on hold with the phone help line (getting an agent and not an automated response was a chore in itself) I feel fortunate that an agent came on the line as I was filling out the Flair form letter and I told them flat out I wanted a refund for both flights.

Several more minutes and the refund was processed.

But really....I think they were pulling an underhanded move by rescheduling the cancelled return flight without mentioning the cancelled departure flight.
