She had switched in 2026 to playing a dark Gibson on "Dusty Foot." Now, at Chelmsford, UK. she's back playing her old standby, the natural wood finish guitar. Ok.....

.....Why the Gibson in the 1st place? - and - why the abandonment of the Gibson?

at YouTube: the dark Gibson in a SHORTS uploaded a little while back by ericpirwitz1331 from The Bluestone, Columbus, Ohio, Fri., June 12, '26

Natural wood finish guitar at Chelmsford UK State Fayre SHORTS uploaded by FIREBUG85SAD from Sat., June 27, '26.

both SHORTS are of "Dusty Foot" I THINK it had/has something to do with the audio technician concern of "acoustic guitars tend to feedback" but idk.

Meredith Axelrod opened shows for Sierra Ferrell the other year, Grand Rapids, Toronto, etc.

Sings awful pretty. gosh.. A brief clip of just her singing, no instruments -

"Draggin' My Heart Around" https://www.youtube.com/shorts/SqXZCOtgmuQ

accompanying herself with guitar at a coffee shop. Trumpet joins in at around 2 minutes, 50 seconds 😄

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J85e-z-FN6U "You Ought To Know How Much I Love You"

looked it up just now: written by Eubie Blake and Noble Sissle in 1924, Sierra Ferrell's favorite musical decade.

Can anybody direct me to this 2022 Sierra Ferrell performance of John Anderson's "Down In Tennessee"?

EDITeditEDIT: My title question is based on wrong info :-( see the correcting reply from RLmusic99 below :-) plz find "THE OTHER PERFORMANCE I CANT FIND ... " though, right below. endEDIT

I dont get excited about tribute albums. Most arent worth the effort, except perhaps to enlighten newer people. No one does John Anderson better than John Anderson.

I did just watch the Opry special, so i can comment on that. What was good: Sierra Farrell chose to sing Down in Tennessee. My almost favorite cut from John. It gets totally overlooked in his catalog. A great melody is part of what is missing in todays ” music”. Sierra didnt top John by any means, but it was pretty. [end cut-and-paste]

THE OTHER PERFORMANCE I CAN'T FIND is from Chris Scruggs "Friends And Neighbors" radio show on WSM.

Chris Scruggs and his guest Sierra Ferrell sing a super-clear duet, "For So Many Years" ............ anybody? .......

Wondering - what was the shortest plane flight to a show Sierra Ferrell ever had?

and - what was the longest day on a bus/train/or in the van???

Two categories:

  1. busking days/early days of Nashville
  2. after signing w/Rounder Records, i.e., the big comfortable bus, up to the present

yes, I'm a curious wonderer.

Familiar fellows harmonize on a Bob Dylan song

you might say some Sentimental Gentlemen :-)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBSFdnj_Q-I "Girl From the North Country"

left to right: unknown guitarist; Josh Rilko, mandolin; Oliver Bates Craven, fiddle; Dr. Geoff Saunders, double bass; unknown banjoist

Crossroads Acoustic Fest, Friday April 24 2026, Seymour, Indiana, USA

The Sentimental Gentlemen have 4 scheduled performances in July '26, the last of which is in France :-)

https://www.sentimentalgentlemen.com/tour .

[edit] The Sentimental Gentlemen's 4 performances in July '26 coincide with a break in Sierra Ferrell's tour.

She has SOLD OUT the venue in London, UK, for Tuesday, July 7 '26. Her next scheduled gig after that is in Santa Barbara, California, on Thursday, August 6, '26. and evvvthang's "if'n the cricks don't rise," don'tcha know? ;-)

https://www.sierraferrellmusic.com/tour

I surmise The Water Tower Band (?) will be at Delfest to kick off the year this Friday (?) but The Sentimental Gentlemen otherwise remain the favored fellows? is that right? [ENDedit]

[[edit#2 I'm assuming drummer Matty Meyer and multi-instrumentalist Mike Anderson will re-join the posse in Portland, Oregon at the end of May '26?]]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKMbhtway5g !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

His appreciative smile says more than all the science-y stuff - he's using the science-y stuff to shield his heart

I kinda hope Sierra Ferrell herself doesn't see this - and get self-conscious. 'Coz he's got a God-forsaken pitch-monitoring machine going - but his approving smile says more than does his nit-picking about "a little flat here" "a little sharp there" - to me those lines on the graph as she ascends and descends look damn solid.

He seems unaware of Sierra Ferrell's big successes.
