Damaged neighbour car in parking lot - neighbour refusing to cooperate. Seeking advice.

Hi,

My mother (with legal driving license) hit a neighbours car head on while parking, causing damage to neighbour’s car’s front and back bumper. Realising the fault, I informed the neighbour of the same and told them that we can either:

  1. get it repaired from a mechanic (not authorized)
  2. or
  3. she can claim insurance and we can pay for any filing charges, plus no claim bonus lost.

After sending car to Maruti, she sent us quotation of 67k out of which insurer has confirmed to pay 30k, while 37k needs to be paid out of pocket. However I reviewed the item list and it includes items such as replacement of right door, which was no way impacted - I have the videos and even cctv footage of the incident if needed. (also confirmed this with her service representative who mentioned she asked to include those due to prior scratches on it, and that insurance guy refused for others items as well as those were not caused by damage).

On telling her that those are not caused by damage from my car, she cut the phone and is now saying she will file FIR. She has also refused to share itemized statement of what insurance approved vs did not. I’m ok to cover anything not covered by insurance such as consumables, paint etc but not a freaking door which was not damaged at all, or impacted in any way.

What are my options here? I’m still ok to go with either of above mentioned options provided no prior car damages are being clubbed here.

Itinerary Check - Toya vs Noboribetsu as a base - which one, if combining as one stop?

Planning a Hokkaido trip for October 8^(th) - 20^(th) (chasing fall colors)

Rough route: Sapporo (2n) → Otaru via (with Cape Kamui) (2n) → Furano/Biei/Asahikawa (3n) → Toya or Noboribetsu (2n) → Hakodate (2n) → fly to Tokyo

Renting a car from Sapporo and dropping it in Hakodate. Would be great if someone could help answer:

>1. Currently have 2 nights around the Toya/Noboribetsu area, thinking of basing in just one and doing the other as a day trip since they're only about 40 min apart by car. Trying to decide which one to actually sleep in. From what I've read so far:

Noboribetsu: Jigokudani, some of the better onsen ryokans on the island, the lit-up night walk through the valley

Toya: calmer lake, Nakajima Island cruise, maybe still catching the fireworks cruise if it runs that late in October

Has anyone done both and has a strong opinion on which is worth waking up in vs which is fine as a quick stop? Also open to hotel recs for whichever ends up being the base.

>2. Itinerary check - other items I'd welcome suggestions on:

Otaru: Have currently two nights here - planning to cover Cape Kamui one day and take the other day at a relaxed place in Otaru itself than staying in Sapporo.

Furano/Biei/Asahikawa: Which would be the ideal base? Thinking of a farm/airbnb in Furano right now.

Hakodate: Currently have flight booked out from Hakodate thus will be dropping car there itself. Would cutting one night from Hakodate to increase elsewhere be better? On lookout for any other less explored places in Hokkaido - love countryside, parks, forests (ruled out East hokkaido because of the increased travel/ car time).

Thanks in advance.

Query regarding layover time & luggage transfer at Haneda for return journey from Sapporo -> Haneda -> Delhi journey?

Hi, I am planning for a trip to Sapporo from Delhi this year. ANA website is showing me the following return flight from Sapporo to Delhi:

8:30a.m. Sapporo (New Chitose) Terminal: D - 10:05a.m. Tokyo (Haneda) Terminal: 2
0h55min Via Tokyo (Haneda)
11:00a.m. Tokyo (Haneda) Terminal: 2 - 4:30p.m. Delhi Terminal: 3

From people who've made this journey/ or have taken other domestic connecting flights in Japan, I'd like to understand a few things:

  1. While both are ANA flights/planes, 55 mins seems way too less for Immigration Control. Does anyone have experience with this? Would it be ok to assume the airlines would help fast-track things? Minimum connection time is 55 min as per ana guidelines https://www.ana.co.jp/en/jp/guide/boarding-procedures/checkin/domestic/transit/
  2. In relation to above, does the baggage transfers through directly (I've heard it doesn't but reconfirming), or does one need to do this themselves? Flight from Delhi to Sapporo has 2.5 hours layover in Haneda so that should be fine but curious about the baggage situation there as well.
