*IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT PLEASE READ*

This post is to introduce the new Moderators and to explain the changes in the Rules.

Firstly, Please welcome the new mods which have been selected through the Mod selection process.
u/Turbulent_Book_1685, u/chitrobilash, u/kimyoona12, and u/_pleiades__ .

The mod team includes both, those who have been actively participating in the sub and those who have experience in moderating other subs, to ensure effective moderation.

Now the main issue

UPDATES TO THE RULES OF THE SUB:-

  • Rule no.1 has been revised:-

>If the art being shared is not yours then the title must carry the name of the work along with it's real author along with [Not OC] tag in the following format: Title of Artwork, Artist Name [Not OC]

If the art belongs to you, the the title must contain [OC] tag.

  • Rule no. 5, Regarding NSFW Art:-

>Mark nude artworks with NSFW tag. Repeated offenders will face a swift ban.

>Pornographic content (explicit sexual acts as primary purpose) is not allowed (with some exceptions). Erotic/suggestive content is generally allowed.

>Anatomy studies, figure drawing and nudity in general will be allowed as long as it has an artistic/educational purpose and vision

>Do not create explicit sexual content depicting real people's likenesses

>Mods will use discretion when moderating NSFW content.

The rules, especially regarding NSFW art has been modified by taking inputs from all the mods and people of the sub itself. Now to clarify one thing, WE ARE NOT BANNING NSFW ART, NSFW art that has an artistic, educational, or study related purpose will be allowed. Anatomy studies, figure drawing, or artwork that is trying to communicate an idea are fine. To ensure that NSFW and suggestive/sexual art has an artistic vision behind it, we have added a New Rule-

  • Rule 10:- Suggestive, erotic or sexual art must contain a brief description

>Posts containing suggestive, erotic, or sexual NSFW artwork must include a brief artist's note in the comments or post body.

This note does not need to be lengthy, but it should provide some artistic context about the work, such as the character, concept, narrative, design choices, technique, or creative intent behind the piece.

Submissions that contain sexual content without any accompanying artistic context or vision may be removed at moderator discretion.

If you are someone who dosent want to see any NSFW content, you can disable it by going in the settings. A simple google search will be helpful in it.

Now if you're someone like me, you sometimes open NSFW marked images in the public not thinking much, well ensure that you don't do that especially the images from this Sub.

We plan to expand more on the rules, especially around NSFW art in the Wiki. For now please make sure to take a look at the revised Rules of the sub before posting. We also plan to make some adjustments to rule no. 2, that will be informed later.

We hope the new mod team and the new Rules will make this sub a better place. Stay creative and keep thinking!

TLDR; New mods, New rules- Mention [OC] and [Not OC] in the title, and credit the artist, Rules regarding NSFW art have been made more specific, and suggestive, sexual art will require a short note to be posted with it explaining about the vision behind the work. Plz take a look through the revised rules

Fate of NSFW art on the sub

I do not plan to allow explicit art pieces with fetishism or objectification of people or other similar things, which are more porn than art. Especially considering the presence of minors in the sub.

This does not mean that general nudity or anatomical studies will be banned, but they will be moderated according to the general consensus.

New Mod alert!

Hello people of this lovely subreddit, watching the sad state of this Sub and the inactivity of the mods, I have taken over the moderation of this subreddit. In the coming days I shall decide the direction of the sub with your help, it's time to take this subreddit in the right direction.

First of all I'm going to begin a cleanup of this subreddit, and I want to make one thing clear

*ABSOLUTELY NO AI GENERATED CONTENT WILL BE ACCEPTED OR ALLOWED IN THIS SUBREDDIT*

Art is incompatible with ai, ai slop generated using ai shall not be allowed.

Next question is about nsfw artworks, I will post a poll regarding it, there are some things which are straight up porn, I will not allow that at all, but we will consider to what degree can we allow it, plz give your thoughts below.

Further I will look forward to have more mods on the team, as right now I'm the only mod.

Ai referenced art: The new cancer

Art credit: vishnuprabhanc on instagram

https://www.instagram.com/vishnuprabhanc

We already suffer from the plague of AI "art", although it really shouldn't be called that, but that plague has started to infect artists in a new way now, New artists are increasingly using Ai generated reference images for their art. I am watching more and more such artworks, with wrong number of fingers, crooked proportions, etc etc, they feel ai generated but it's actually on paper, turns out it's been copied from ai generated things.

Now on the surface you might think that what's wrong with that? It's not ai generated art, a person is working hard to create something through pen and paper, but the truth of the matter is, it's just ai art with an extra step, and I'll explain how in a bit.

Now I don't blame the young budding artists for choosing such reference images, they want to practice their skills, they want to recreate some art, and unfortunately the art online has been infected with ai slop, so unfortunately it has become common for them to be entrapped into using ai slop as reference.

What these new and young artists need is to first be mindful about what the harms of ai art is, and what reference actually deserves their skills and work, learn about real artists, brilliant artists, learn from their artwork, not a soulless picture created by a water chugging ai system that causes severe environmental damage.

When artists themselves use ai generated images as references they legitimise that slop, which is the last thing we need and in the end it will just create more suffering for real artists, ai works on stealing the work of real artists, and is extremely unethical, I hope by now we all are aware of that.

Even if you are using your own skills, your time, your heart on an art piece, but it's referenced from ai, you will be accused of posting ai slop, because that's just what it would actually look like, and looking like is not the main thing, that's not what art is, art has a soul, a story, a method, ai art and references lack that.

Religious art should particularly avoid such references, art is a form of devotion, devotion which is mindless and heartless is meaningless, if you're using something that's causing so much harm into your art, and you're using it to "imagine" for you, what are you putting into it? You're an artist, not a printer.

The reason why I posted this here is because I feel art is a very spiritual and holy topic, and deserves respect. And ai art is a matter of ethics, and deserves due discussion and understanding, people take it very lightly, but generative ai is doing more damage than we think, and no matter how much ai advances, it can never achieve the beauty of real artists.

TLDR:Ai referenced art is also harmful like ai generated art

I pray to Goddess Saraswati, the Ruler of art and creativity, may she protect art and the artists 🙏🏻

Edit:- Art attached to showcase an example of real art, which generative AI can never outperform.

List of Presiding deities Adhisthatri/Adishtatra (अधिष्ठात्र / अधिष्ठात्री )

We all know that different regions, teerth sthalas or otherwise, have a presiding deity, even villages have a gram devta, and every place has a sthan devta which is invoked during pujas. But I don't think so there is an extensive list of all these regions and the presiding deity associated with them.

So basically I want to ask all of you is that to put down any and all places and their presiding deities that you know of in order to create a list, because online there isn't much clear information. Perhaps that can be plotted on a map.

Now for some examples, there is Shree-kshetra/Purushottam-kshetra (basically Jagannath Puri) it has two presiding deities that I know of, Vimala devi, and Prabhu Jagannath .

Similarly

Dwarka- Rukmini mata and Dwarkadhish

Madurai- Maa Kamakshi and I would assume Sundareshwar?

Kashi- Vishwanath

Braj- Mata katyayani and Bhagwan Krishna

Vidarbha- again Mata rukmini

Ig the answers can also vary a little depending on your sect etc. but I want all the answers!
