Company Opened Data Engineering Role and I Was Encouraged to Apply. Tips?
Hi all,
First time here as I am currently a senior data analyst at my company. We are opening up a data engineering position on an adjacent team and I was encouraged to apply in spite of my only experience being when we migrated our data from Salesforce CRM Analytics over to Snowflake.
I’m definitely interested in the role and would love to get into data engineering long term but was curious if you had any tips for when I start the process of chatting with them about the role? Things I should key in on or recommendations I could make for how I see the role progressing considering I already know the data and systems in place?
Currently we have Salesforce as our CRM, we migrate that data through the built in CRM Analytics connector to Snowflake but I know we would like to use a proper ETL tool for real time data transferring and that’s part of what this role will do. In addition to that we have data going to several places (without getting into what we do for privacy sake) from Snowflake out including Tableau, a ticketing service for athletics, among others.
Are there any tools you’ve come across that you see being beneficial to put on top of this stack or any additional things I should look into researching before going into discussions with my team?
