Ortlieb carry like this okay

Is this okay. Will I stretch the springs over time if I carry and hang them by this.

How long will my Domane last?

I bought a SL6 gen4 last year. Happy with the bike but all the fuss about the Domane has remained me on that by bike supposedly is a catastrophe to happen.

So how long can I expect the ISO speed to last before ny bike explode ?

Magene Pes 515 get to high preload following the instructions

I have a problem with the installation of my Magene PES P515 power meter. I followed these four steps:

  1. Tightened the preload bolt to 1–1.5 Nm. (This was impossible to do accurately, so I just tightened it enough to remove all play, similar to a standard Shimano preload bolt. The crankarm spins smoothly after this.)
  2. Tightened the crankarm bolt to 14 Nm.
  3. Tightened the preload bolt again to 13 Nm.
  4. Tightened the inner part of the preload bolt to 12 Nm.

The problem is that step 3 seems to increase the preload too much, and my crankarm spins much worse afterward. I am not sure why; I thought the crankarm could not move closer to the bearings after tightening in step 2. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

I also put grease on the preload bolt's threads—maybe that was wrong? As far as I know, torque depends on whether grease is applied; if Magene calculated the correct torque without grease, adding grease will make the clamping force too high.

Is 45 mm the sweet spot

Planning a new bike. Have been wondering about a Fairlight Secan 3.0 for a long time but 53 mm tire clearance is not the largest one.

I have read all I can find about tire clearance on gravel and many places I see 45 mm as a best compromise for normal people ( not for pro cycling fast as hell with no time for checking for big rocks).

How do you clean your chain (most of the time)

Myself I just use a Park Tool chain cleaner tool. The type you fill with degreasers and clip onto the chain.
Just do some rounds and carefully rinse the chain with a water hose afterward. Do not want degreasers in my bearings.

I addition I try to remove all oil residue on the drivetrain with a cloth.

But from time to time I take off the chain and cassette and cleans these with a degreaser. Also give rest of the drivetrain a good wash/remove oil residue and add a tiny amount of grease on derailleurs moving parts.

Microspline freehub regular vs road

I am reaching out because I am really confused by the information I'm finding on the internet.

I am planning to build a new gravel bike based on a Fairlight Secan with Elitewheels SLR and Shimano's new 1x12 Di2 GRX (Shimano GRX RD-RX827), but after reading a lot on different forums, I got confused about Micro Spline.

Does Shimano Micro Spline come in two different versions?

  1. Regular Micro Spline (MS) that fits a mountain bike (MTB) hub.
  2. Micro Spline Road (MSR) that fits a road hub, where the freehub body itself is 1.85 mm longer.

Some places suggest that if I want to fit an MTB 10-51t cassette on an MSR freehub for my new gravel build, I will need a spacer of 1.85 mm(I have Elitewheels SLR with a Micro Spline freehub from Elitewheels). But I cannot find any Microspline spacer anywhere on internet.

Does anybody have experience with a similar build?

Fairlight Secan 3.0 , how wide tire in pracsis

I am very close to buying this bike, but the strange max tire clearance of 53 mm with a 1x setup bugs me. It is a very odd number. I find it strange that they could not get it to 54 mm since 2.1-inch tires exist.

What is the max tire width that works in practice?

By the way, do there exist other steel gravel bikes from Europe with external cabling and large tire clearance?"
