Happy 4th.

It’s a nice (hot) day to relax and chill with a glass of wine and enjoy the birds, fountains, squirrels and pups (who have chased the birds and squirrels into the woods). May each of you be blessed as we celebrate 250 years in this beautiful land.

I have experienced the beauty of these United States, having visited nearly every state. We are filled with love for this nation and its people - we love the beauty, flowers and culture of Hawaii (what I wouldn’t give for a locomoco, a manapua and a puakinikini lei); the culture, foods and geography of Arizona, New Mexico and Texas; the majesty of the Rocky Mountains in Wyoming, Utah and Colorado; the casinos of Nevada; the flowing plains of Midwest; the music of Tennessee and Kentucky; the beignets of New Orleans; the majesty and commerce of New York; the sky scrapers of Chicago; the lakes of Michigan; the tomatoes and family history of New Jersey; the beauty of our nation’s capital district; our family in and diversity of Georgia , the Carolinas and Virginia; and the rolling hills, forests, history and family roots of Pennsylvania.

May each of you, where ever you live, who ever you love and which ever belief system you profess. be blessed on this birthday of our nation.

Thank you to our Native American, Hawaiian, and Alaskan friends, whose ancestors tamed the land and who still allow us to live here.

May we treat this land, this country, its peoples and each other with respect. May we preserve this land for our children and our posterity.

Further to my last post…

Here is what CareLink was showing when Sweet Dreams had me at 782. Ultimately the system has corrected to 94 over the past 8 hours (finger stick currently shows I’m at 110).

Yes I did have a light breakfast (40g carbs - same thing every day) and a standard bolus a bit after 9 a.m. Instinct sensor showed low, finger stick showed normal, CareLink went blank but sent readings of 782 to the Sweet Dreams app during that period. Separate from the SD issue, the finger sticks are still way off from the Instinct sensor. (A month ago, this was flipped. Instinct showed I was around 100 but finger stick had me at 60
AFTER downing TWO 12 oz regular sodas and consuming a 50g burrito).

Moral of the story: listen to your body, keep a test kit nearby and don’t rely on the pump for accurate readings.

Venting…. This was an intriguing morning.

780g said I was 50ish around 8:30. Tested and was at 115, entered 115 in the pump settings. Pump asked me to confirm it again, tested and it was still close to 115. Then it sent me up to 400+ for a while. Then took be back to the 50’s around 11 (but I was actually about 140) and bumped me up close to 200 (I was still at 140ish).

Eventually, the Instinct sensor moved me to where my finger sticks were registering around 110 …. This is from the Sweet Dreams app, but it pulled the data from Carelink which showed no readings on the pump for that strange period. If memory serves, the MM pump doesn’t register when it thinks BGs are in the 400+ range.)

When it works, it works wonderfully. When it doesn’t look right, I test… I’m about 6 days into a new instinct sensor on my arm, routine light breakfast, no compression lows, nothing unusual happening….. sigh… I feel like I’ve regressed to the MM508 days with multiple finger sticks all day…. Back in sync now….

Princess Points

Every time I see that generic withdrawal-confirmation letter from the church, it sounds like this line from To Wong Foo:
“I am hereby stripping you of all your princess points!”
