Disability Pension and Renting

hello, I’m 29 female and currently renting with my husband. I was diagnosed with level 2 autism almost ten years ago and receive supports (which are extremely helpful to me) from the NDIS. I’ve tried for over ten years to work and recently reached a stage where I attempted to seriously harm myself and ended up in hospital for two weeks. I know it’s too hard for me to work realistically more than two days a week.

I believe I could be eligible for the disability pension, however because my husband earns a whopping 80k per year, I would end up taking home about $150 a fortnight? my plan would be to have this and work 1-2 days a week in a much more disability friendly role.

my question is, does anyone have a similar situation and have had to apply for a rental? we have to move to a new one in the next 6 months, I can’t imagine I’ll be working much, if at all. I’m worried if they see I’m on the DSP, we won‘t get accepted for any private rentals. does anyone have any experience with this and any advice? it’s so hard not being able to work but also not being able to get much support from the dsp

I’m not sure what to do and wondering if anyone has any perspective.

im 29 (f) and have been in a relationship with my husband since I was 18. he’s the only person I’ve had sex with. we got married 4 years ago and in many way our relationship is great. he’s funny, we are connected and have similar interests. he’s very kind and fun.

If I’m being honest I’ve always felt unsure, I’ve always wanted to experience different people. he’s not super attractive to me physically. very over weight and not a good looking person. I mostly don’t mind and I’ve gained a lot of weight in the last 4 years so don’t feel much better myself.

He has always been lazy. just as a person. He never wants to come to family things, he likes lots of time for gaming and he isn’t very motivated to make money or try harder at work. This was never a massive issue, however I am on the autism spectrum and really struggle to work. Ive made decent money and terrible money over the years. it’s very inconsistent. this makes things so so hard, but especially recently. we wanted to start a family but struggling with fertility on his side. Ive been trying to be supportive for a year and half all while watching him do nothing to change our situation. he doesn’t exercise, loose weight, eat better or make any attempt to earn more money for IVF. Meanwhile I’ve started working full time which is beyond my capacity so I can try to make more money.

I confronted him about this about a month ago. he didn’t take it well at first but then the next day he said you’re right I’m very complacent and I’m going to think about a better career so I can be more serious about being a parent. since then I haven’t seen him try to research jobs or study. I think he tells me what I want to hear and hopes I’ll accept it.

I also do almost all of the cooking and cleaning. he just leaves things around, bread crumbs, dishes, washing…. it’s infuritaing. I try to go to work, cook regularly, I’m taking weight loss medication to I can be healthier and get my body to a better place, keep our home clean.

The biggest problem is that I just am sick of feeling used, of feeling like I‘ve never been with someone I’m really attracted too, of worrying that having a baby will just make everything harder and he doesn’t see it.

I don’t want to implode my life but I feel like I’ve been just burying the problems for years. What do I do??

tl;dr My husband is very low energy and doesnt try, I’m autistic and bunt out. I struggle with being attracted to him physically and feel scared to be stuck in a difficult resentful situation.

I know this is something people usually avoid but my husband and I have been struggling with fertility for 2 years. the breeding kink is hot but also it’s just cathartic for me when the fmc just gets pregnant easily. I like pretty much any fantasy (less into Modern setting but open to it) just don’t like anything ultra dark. I’m ok with kidnapping if it’s in like a fun fae/ forced marriage way. Not in like a stalker dark way.
