Chicken Death - Learning Opportunity
Suffered a loss tonight and looking for learning opportunities.
Had a 3year old cinnamon queen pass away. She was fine yesterday, ever squared up to me a bit! She was laying around today, and when my daughter got home she let me know Blanche wasn’t doing so well and she was puking. I felt her crop and it was very soft and watery, so I started to gently massage her crop with her head down. A lot of liquid started coming up - it smelled a bit but not terribly. I thought she was okay and then she just died. I should also note her comb was purplish.
What could I have done differently? Any thoughts what it could be? I’m so sad but want to learn so I know what to do if it happens again.
RIP Blanche 💜
