Does it matter if the magnets don’t snap?

Mounted Frame level (on an 100+yr old not completely flat wall) and brackets seated properly (snap sound on both sides) but when pushing the tv back to the wall I can’t get the magnets to snap together. Assuming magnets are there to make TV look totally flush rather than providing any weight bearing capacity!
