anyone else been diagnosed incorrectly with a whole personality disorder because of how you explained your situation with your narcissist?

my therapist/psychiatrist was a creepy old man whose best advice was "you have a heart of gold" and literally nothing else, diagnosed me with paranoid personality disorder because i somewhat jokingly said i wouldn't be surprised if my mom (the narcissist in my life) wanted to poison me because she hates me that much. i didn't actually believe it, i just said i felt like it could happen. hyperbolic but honestly a statement that makes perfect sense to anyone else who has been hated by a narcissist. am i right or no??? come on. of course i am right. i was like 18 years old. he diagnosed me and never told me about the diagnosis. i only found out at the next therapist. he just started to give me wellbutrin and increased the dose even when i told him i could barely stay awake during the day (side effect is drowsiness)

this is like one of my biggest traumas.

of course the title of my post is incorrect because his stupidity is why i was incorrectly diagnosed but you feel me

for those of you who go to therapy, what modalities/types of therapy have helped you the most with your trauma related to abuse?

emdr, somatic, cbt, trauma informed, etc

what types of therapy did your best therapists use on you?

thanks

got an appointment with my therapist in about two hours and i don't want to see her

last time we met was two weeks ago and she was trying to get me to "make peace in the relationship" with my brother whom i've already told her i didn't want a relationship with. she also compared a healthy relationship to the one i have with my mom and seemed to think they were one in the same. my mom is the narcissist. the therapist said "what can you do to make the relationship with your brother more like the one you have with your mom?"

my question for yall is... do i just say "i've been thinking about what you said during our last session and i am upset"? then let her take it from there?

side note- yes, i am planning on getting a new therapist i just don't want to pay a cancellation fee

mental health clinic is biased

i had an unfortunate and upsetting appointment with my therapist. after the appointment, i called asking if they had another therapist to offer me at the clinic i use and they said no. i was fine with that. i even said, i would continue to see my current therapist and address the issue that i had with her behavior with the therapist herself.

what i was not fine with was that the receptionist on the phone then began to say "everyone likes her" LOL WAY TO INVALIDATE MY EXPERIENCE.

i don't understand why she had to tell me that, especially without knowing ANY DETAILS about what the therapist had done to upset me during the last appointment. it could have been a violation of conduct and ethics for all she knew! (it wasn't but it doesn't mean she can act like it wasn't without knowing anything)

this mental health clinic is hiring unprofessional and biased receptionists who truly have zero empathy

i've been sick of this practice for a while honestly but i don't know if i'd be able to get another practice and also transfer my psychiatric nurse as well,... it's just so triggering when someone pretends to know your situation and defends the person you have a problem with.

i'm already in therapy because i'm being emotionally abused by family members who take each others sides. i don't need the same abuse dynamic to be played out in a conversation with a ditzy receptionist who is playing favorites with the therapists in her workplace! OH MY GOD I COULD SCREAM

advice is ok but don't try to tell me im wrong or ask me my age or living situation. i dont want that info on here. i don't need your advice unless it's kind and considerate.
