[70F] Dentist is recommending 10 Root Canals and fixed bridges in 10 days for my grandmother.

[70F] Dentist is recommending 10 Root Canals and fixed bridges in 10 days for my grandmother.

Patient Info: 70-year-old Female. Non-smoker, does not drink.

Primary Complaint: We originally went to the clinic because my grandmother had severe, acute pain in two of her lower left teeth.

The Background:

The dentist took a localized X-ray, found deep decay, and successfully performed root canals and placed crowns on those two teeth. We waited a little over two weeks for her to heal, and I'm happy to report she is feeling great and is totally pain-free on that side!

The Dilemma:

During the follow-up, the dentist took a full OPG (panoramic X-ray) and noted she is missing teeth on the opposite side (lower right) and upper jaw. To replace these missing teeth and balance her bite, the dentist is recommending a "Full Mouth Rehabilitation" using fixed bridges.

Because the teeth next to these empty gaps are tilted or worn, the dentist says they need to be shaved down to act as anchors for the bridges. To prevent the nerves from dying after being shaved, she has proposed prophylactic (preventative) root canals on all the anchor teeth.

Here is the catch: The handwritten treatment plan lists 10 additional teeth that need root canals. This brings the total to 12 root canals. Even more concerning to me, the dentist wants to complete these 10 new root canals in multiple sittings over the next 10 days.

My Concerns/Questions for the professionals here:

The Physical Toll: Subjecting a 70-year-old woman to 10 root canals in 10 days seems incredibly aggressive and exhausting. I am very worried about jaw strain, TMJ flare-ups, and the overall physical trauma of keeping her mouth open for that long. Is this timeline standard or safe for geriatric patients?

I just want the minimum necessary fix to help my grandma chew comfortably, without putting her through a massive physical ordeal and a huge financial burden. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
